I've been on Lexapro for 4 weeks now and I do feel a little better (with depressed mood) but I have some really bad days (like today, crying all day and sad). I have noticed something, that in the morning times I feel wired or anxious, the morning times are always the worst. I know I have only been on them for 4 weeks but I am starting a new job on Tuesday and am worried that I will still wake up feeling wired or very anxious. I have never had anxiety before and it has only got really bad since I started Lexapro. what anyone to help me out with advice or experiences? will the morning ever get better?

Have you tried taking 5mg until your body adapts to it? Also try switching to night time if it's making you tired and thus anxious. Trust that you're en route to feeling better to let go of your anxiety before you start your new job. There is a great app for meditation that might help through this transition -it's called CALM and you can download it to your phone.
I do take it when I wake up so tomorrow I will take it when I go to bed! I don't want to go down to 5mg because I don't want the withdrawal symptoms for when I am starting a new job because it was hard enough getting to this point! Do you not think my body is used to it by now
Every body is different. I had awful side effects for 2 months before I felt better. Now, I feel better on it although I've gained weight. I had to go down to 5mg because it was too strong a medication for me. It made me super tired and fuzzy headed so when I was taking 10mg, I took it at night time to sleep better. It helped. I now take 5mg in the morning and I'm great and I've been doing this for 2 months and I 've been on Lexapro for 10 months.
Did you have the same feeling in the morning as I do? I get much better as the day goes on!
Yes, I felt depressed and hopeless and it made me weary. I wanted to get off of it but my doctor and my therapist encouraged me to stay on it. But I hated it at first. I felt completely out of control with my feelings. That is why I joined this site, to see if what I felt was normal. I came to find out that there are two types of people: (1) those who stick with it against all odds and (2) those who quit and try something else. But I didn't want to become dependent on medication and try so many drugs that I didn't know who I was so I am in group 1. You should consult with your doctor, if you believe you're more like group 2. You'll need to wean off the drug before you try something new. Do you go to therapy?
I am like group 1 I will stick with it for another 4 weeks... it's just the morning time I feel wired!
I was seeing someone but I felt a lot better for about 5 days so I have not seen her for about 2 weeks
Ok. Then remember it's just your body adapting to it. Make sure to consult with your doctor if you have any other negative symptoms. Therapy is a good resource to calm your nerves too. Just FYI. Good luck!
Sorry to be commenting again about this but morning time is so bad even though I have been taking my pill at night now for the last two days... just wake up with fear and crying a lot and then as the day goes on it gets easier... this is normal which the first few months on the pills??? Just feel I have no control anymore in the morning times
Have you tried contacting your therapist? You may need to be talking about why you feel so anxious and depressed. The pills help with chemicals but it's not a cure all. Maybe you're extra stressed out about your new job and it is the new year. Have you downloaded that Calm app? It's really good for meditation and for calming music and positive thinking. Don't despair. Try to find a way to counteract your depression with or without medication. I felt bad for 2 months on Lexapro but not especifically in the mornings. I remember having weird dreams. Are you waking up to weird dreams, maybe? Also, it might be time to consult with your doctor if you're feeling that down. Don't wait to talk about your symptoms with a professional. I felt suicidal but when I talked to my therapist and my doctor, they said it was just a side effect so I tried to laugh at those thoughts. They did go away eventually. It all goes away eventually and you feel extra calm and together after you've adapted to it.
I understand what you are going through. I also took Lexapro for about 1-1/2 years. Unfortunately as it turned out, it wasn't the right medication for me as it caused more anxiety for me too. Lexapro can and does cause more anxiety for some people. I would suggest talking to your Dr about this and possibly getting on another medication. Good luck!
I think I will stay on it for another month to see how I get on because I do feel a lot better than when I started it first! What mg were you on? I am on 10mg
