I woke up in the middle of the night and started feeling a lot of negative thoughts. I started to cry uncontrollably. I have been on Zoloft for 2 weeks and just experience this feeling twice. I have been in a very depressive mood but this was out of the norm. Can Zoloft cause this reaction? I'm on 25 MG and also taking wellbutrin, lamictal and a high blood pressure medication. Is this one of the side effects? Extreme Crying sometimes?
Does Zoloft make you feel like crying in an out of control way?

Was on Zoloft 25mg for 2 weeks, dose was increased to 50mg. On my 5th day and I can’t stop crying. How long will this crying last?
Zoloft and other antidepressants can have this effect. For me, it increased my anxiety and I eventually stop taking it. There's always the chance that this is something that will happen only in the adjustment period, but if it continues for too long, then talk to your doctor about switching you. It could also have to do with the interactions between the other medications you're taking. Best of luck!
Thanks beachgirl21 for replying to my question. I might be taking to many meds. This situation was terrible. I'm going to give this med one more week. Are you on any anti depressant medications?

I just finished tapering off of the Zoloft, and have been antidepressant free for several days. I am supposed to pick up a prescription for Wellbutrin XL within the next couple of days and start taking that at 150mg. So we'll see how that goes. My main concern is that it can often increase anxiety, and that's already a big issue for me.
Hi, gutimaya! ALL antidepressants can potentially cause exaggerated emotions during the adjustment phase. It's not a permanent side effect and usually only lasts a few days to several weeks. You're still on the standard starting dose so this should be over soon
Best wishes and good luck!
Thank you for replying to my question. I'm on other meds besides this one. I never experienced anything like this before. It's a very low dose. This has to be the right med for me because I tried so many. My Dr. said if this doesn't work I might have to go into the hospital.
