My Mother is 88 and her dr. has prescribed Librax but it is so expensive she will not let me get the prescription filled. She is not on medicade but will be is she starts buying this medicine on going. We can't even try the drug because Wal-Mart wanted over $200 for a three months prescription and Publix Pharmacy wanted $69 for a 16 day supply.
He has advised for me to try another pharmacy, but still this medicine is not covered by her prescription plan.
Why is this medicine (Librax) so expensive?

Gerri; I would say call some more Pharmacies there is no set prices also ask if they still make a generic for it. But they might of quit because it is not a very fast mover. So they can charge whatever a store wants to charge. Then if no luck the doctor well know what else to try just give the doctors office a call and tell them it is too much money what else can you get. Good luck.
Save up to 75% on ChlordiazepoxideClidinium Gerri, CALL THE PHARMACY AGAIN ASK IF THEY CAN ORDER THE GENERIC NAME IS ABOVE i FOUND MANY COMPANIES STILL MAKING IT AND IT ALSO CAME UP WITH A DISCOUNT CARD FROM GOOD RX AND PHARMACIES THAT EXCEPT IT.CHECK THE PRICE ON THE GENERIC THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE IT TOMORROW. cHUCK1957
I gave up and called the dr's office again and told the nurse to tell the dr. again that the third drug store wanted OVER $600 for three months. I told them just call her in a pain medicine that would be ok for her to take with the other medications that she takes. This was on $4. Now I just have to wait and see if it hers her abdominal cramping. Thank you for your comments.
Gerri
That is Good Gerri; it's crazy how much difference it is from place to place and no one wanting to help while your mom is the one feeling so bad. Hope it all works out for you
I too had to go pharmacy shopping for librax.no other drug seemed to work..the prices were all over the place..on line comparing helped..in my area..the cheapest was $68 for one month supply of 60 pills at Cvs..in the south Safeway was even cheaper.
Great glad you found it but still can't believe the price and how hard it is to find. Just make sure you don't get to low before you have to look around for more.
My husband takes this medication, I lost my job about 3 years ago and he had to go on his Medicare only, they won't pay for the meds so we stopped getting it, he tried other anti-spasmodic but nothing else worked. His stomach has gotten so bad we have had to start buying it again. With a coupon it costs us $129.80 for 120 pills. I have gotten another job but do not have insurance I can afford to put him on. When we first tried to get the medicine again it was first quoted as $1500. These prices are for the generic of Librax. In talking with a pharmacist, the drug company that produces this medicine raised the price a few years ago just because they could. There is no recourse for people in our circumstance, you can't fight big pharma!! In other countries the government puts caps on what a drug company can charge. We really need help in our country.
Its a combination drug. That's why they price gouge. If it were me I
would call my dr and tell him that its not covered and I can't afford it. There are meds that are covered by part d.
