I was on 80mgs and thought it was causing me to NOT lose weight so I asked my dr and she agreed I could go down to 40 wellll
I started feeling anxious depressed so they upped it to 60 the 80 the back down to 60,well wasn't working sooo they put me on Zoloft and 20mg of Prozac I was feeling weird after 15 days so we stopped Zoloft and went to 60 prozac(fluoxatine) I am feel better then I was but still not me... It is 4 weeks on 60mg should it already be at its full effect or do I need to give it more time

I dont know. Sounds like the prozac has been in your system already only at a lower dose. Therefore it shouldnt take as long as it would take for someone just starting it for the 1st time. I'd say as is it shouldnt take any longer than a month to notice a difference if your going to. Now someone starting it for the 1st time can expect it to potentially take excess of a month to start noticing a difference. If your not noticing any help at all I would call your drs office and ask them about it. Sometimes you can take a medication at one point and get tremendous relief. Where as when its taken again down the road it dont work as well and you have to try something else. Your dr will have an idea if this is the case for you or not. I'll keep you in my prayers. Hope you get back to feeling yourself soon. Hang in there and keep trying dont give up. Sometimes it takes awhile to get the right med and dosage to help you.
4-6wk usually
I was on Prozac for three years. I thought it would NEVER work! It took 5 weeks to the day! I woke up that morning and as soon as I opened my eyes, I knew! I didn't have that kicked-in-the-gut feeling. It was like a cloud had lifted. Good luck! I hope this helped.
Thank you very much for replying, even though I have been on Prozac in the past(never really came off it but did however lower my dose) I'm hoping it will take FULL efect very soon.. I am feeling better but I have my days,as I'm sure everyone does.. Thank you again so much :-)
I have never been on Prozac. I know that most of the antidepressants usually take up to a complete month to feel the effect. it all depends on how your system adjusts to the medication. I hope someone that has been on the medication can give you a more accurate answer. Please do not hesitate to call your doctor though. I have been on the line with mine every day since last Friday and finally spoke to her today after 6 days of the runaround. Don't give up and know that we as a community of people dealing with the same situations will keep you in prayer. God bless you and I hope you get to feeling better. It will get better in the long run. Smile for me.
Thank you so very much for your reply, and thank you for the prayers..
