I have been on Lexapro 5 mg for 3 weeks, now on 7.5 mg why and is it normal for the anxiety (nervousness) makes me feel so shaky and almost worse than my normal anxiety, it’s so intense and the nausea and sweats are as well. How much longer before I have relief? I need answers of hope… any suggestions and anyone else been through this? Does it get better or is this not the correct medication for me. I don’t want to give up on the medication because I’ve been through so much the past 3 weeks. Panic attacks, ER Etc…

Hi, Cnash!
Usually side effects subside over the few couple of weeks but increasing your dosage will sometimes prolong them.
If your symptoms are overwhelming you you'll need to talk to your doctor who may prescribe a short course of a mild sedative to get you through this initial period. You may need to stay on the 5mg dose longer for your metabolism to adjust.
This does get better... don't be concerned that this is unusual or dangerous. Unfortunately some people... especially if you're particularly sensitive to the medication... do have a tough go the first several weeks but these side effects will resolve and you should start seeing some improvements soon.
Be sure to get some professional advice from your doctor as these side effects can often be managed well.
Take care,
