I have been on lexapro for 3 weeks but side effects of dizzy and sleepiness still suck. Im on 10mg and take it at dinner time. Im hoping this gets better after 4 weeks at least. Im not any less depressed maybe because of how i feel physically. Is anyone else in their 3rd week dealing with the same stuff?

I m on lexapro for 3 weeks because of this
It s making me more dizzy
So I have dizziness on top of dizziness
Will this ever go away??
How long did it take you to feel normal after stopping? I stopped after 2 months because it made me very dizzy. It’s been 2 weeks and I’m still very dizzy 24/7
I am still experiencing dizziness but I believe it was getting off another medication as well. I am currently trying to give my body time to correct itself. I am currently working out at the gym 3 to 4 times a week lifting weights and trying to eat healthier and stay hydrated. These medications are bad news and I will never take them again. I will find a way of dealing with depression with meditation, exercise and other activities.
I’m totally with you. I’m done with SSRIs. It’s only made things worse. I think i’ll cry from joy when my dizziness is finally gone. It’s been 3 months. Has yours at least improved? How long have you been completely off Lexapro?
I’m on six weeks going on seven at the end of the week and I feel great the only side effect I have is kind of being tired in the morning but it subsides after a while usually after I eat lunch but I haven’t been able to get on the freeway and almost 3 years and with this Lexapro I have got on the freeway! I know longer fear it like i used to!! I love it!And I only take a half of a 10 mg every night at dinner time
Hi,
I have been on Lexapro 10mgs for 18 days for anxiety. Yesterday I felt so much better and today is horrible. Is this normal. Did you take a anti-anxiety med to help before it kicked in.My side effects are not bad. Just the anxiety need some encouragement that it can get better.
I started tapering off after a month. I cant deal with the horrible exhaustion all the time and going to bed at 7pm everynight. My dr didnt give me anything for the anxiety either. It certainly seemed to ramp up my anxiety which makes no sense since its supposed to treat anxiety also. I am going to try to manage my life with exercise, diet and meditation. I am currentlu dealing with some bad withdrawal symptoms now with body aches all over, chills, increased dizziness, increased depression. I am on day 3 of half a dose. I will do this for a week and them go down to a quarter pill. I hope it helps you.
I am still plugging away at 20 days at 10mg. Will you try another AD?
I think i am done with antidepressants. I am hopeful the paleo diet other changes will improve my outlook on life. The meditation seems very helpful so far. I should of tried these things before i took a pill anyways. Everyone is looking for the easy fix or magic pill including myself. Im done making excuses for myself and i am taking matters into my own hands.
Hi, bearclaw! I'd let your doctor know that you're still having side effects. They will probably still resolve on their own, but better to get some professional advice.
Although you might feel some improvement sooner it can take a few weeks for the more severe issues to get better:
"Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve.
Try not to worry too much as you'll only think yourself into feeling worse. Try to remain positive and take each day as it comes and you'll be fine soon.
Do talk to your doctor though... it's important to keep her/him up-to-date on your progress.
I did tell them but they told me side effects may improve between 2 to 4 weeks. Its difficult to function while i wait but its all i can do.
I am on day 11 on 10 mgs of Lexapro. I take it for anxiety. I had no side effects the first week I took it, but this 2nd week have been having stomach aches and more anxiety. Yesterday was better. This morning is awful. I almost wished I felt tired. I don’t have dizziness. We are all so different. Has anxiety lessened in 3 weeks.
Not yet. Almost feels worse but maybe because i am worried about these side effects. Seems like my anxiety is bad in morning.
Did you have any stomachaches? In the 2nd week. Do you take anything for the anxiety?
I was on it and about the 2nd week I started having severe shaking. I couldn't handle it so I had to switch to Cymbalta. No stomach aches with it.
