Yes. I took Levaquin 4 yrs ago. My taste & smell are impaired significantly. Dirty baby diapers are not a problem.
I have been taking Levaquin for 3 days and completely have lost sense of smell and taste. After reading comments I’m going to stop taking immediately. I hope I get my senses back, it has completely made me lose my appetite.
I have lost my sense of taste and smell since taking levaquin in October of 2014. I cannot enjoy food any longer, nor can I detect if the meat I am preparing for dinner is spoiled. As a nurse I can no longer rely on my sense of smell to assess odors associated with infection in my patients wounds. It's very sad, as I am reminded of this disability on a daily basis. I also suffer from severe pain in my feet when they are on the floor when I am sitting down. I suffer from intermittent numbness and tingling in all extremities. No one takes my complaints seriously. I will never take any fluoroquinolone again.

I have also recently experienced this.
I am currently nursing and had a case of a mastitis infection and was prescribed Levaquin. I took 3 of 7 pills , was supposed to take for 10 days. I noticed a change of taste with the first pill and decided to stop after 3. And I only took 3 because my family urged me to continue it because of my infection.
It’s been a month now and I still have zero sense of taste or smell. I never thought it would take an emotional toll on me but it really has. Does anyone have any answers??
Did you get your taste and smell back?
I also lost mine after Levaquin.
Has anyone researched this further?
I have not gotten my sense of smell back.
I also took Levofloxacin, the generic Levaquin for 7 days the starting 18th of September and have lost my sense of smell and taste. Saw an ENT and I don't have a sinus infection nor does the nasal spray prescribed help at all. I am now afraid neither of these senses will come back. Hopefully, someone will have a solution.

I have researched and anosmia is a side effect listed on page 23 of 68 of the drug info. This info is not shared with patients. Would you be interested in looking into this further?

I took Levaquin Jan 2015 for 10 days. Lost my smell and taste and it still has not returned. My ENT said it probably never will.
I've tried everything out there to try and get it back. Still nothing!!
Buttrfligirl I was wondering if you ever got your sense of smell/taste back? I'm currently on Levoquin on day 2 and completely lost my taste and smell. I took pill #3 but I'm stopping immediately as I have seen too many bad reviews. I'm suppose to take it for 10 days. I'm scared it will not reversible and was wondering if you can give me an update on your experience. I would really appreciate it! Tks.
I wouldn't continue. Let your Dr know about your reaction. I use to take levaquin a lot but after being diagnosed with a blood cancer, I recently took it for an upper respiratory infection and now I can't taste or smell. It may have interfered with my cancer medicine. It been about a month. I hope it returns and hope yours does also. Not fun.

I took two pills in 2010 and lost my sense of smell and taste for almost five years.I went through a period of phanthom smells and tastes after have NO sensations.Went to the nasal dysfunction clinic at the U San Diego. He told me I would have to live with it.I wore nose pugs when fake smells happened ..like rotten meat. I could smell the rancid oils in packaged foods..even driving by a fast food place. It was horrid.I lived on liquid nutrition drinks.I like someone below in comments still eat to live.Sometime flavors are good and I can smell good odors now. DANGEROUS DRUG! Things are especially trying now as I try to eat good as I have terminal blood cancer. It has been a slow miracle. Take 50 mg.Zinc... I believe that helped.

THE FOLLOWING IS REMOVING THE LEVAQUIN FROM MY SYSTEM! HURRAH! I began to take Selenium, equaling 250 or 300 mg per day. Each day, it is improving the length of time before my pain requires me to take other supplements. I have been taking vitamin C, Tylenol, etc. as seen in an earlier response. Selenium is a precursor to GABA which can aid in detoxing Levaquin from our system. Selenium isn't very expensive ($6 for 100 capsules at Fred Myer's). I have taken the Selenium for a week, and I'm now up to around 8 p.m. before I need to take the other supplements. If you are able to take this supplement (which is in most multi-vitamin tabs/caps in a smaller dosage),I hope you will have as great of results as I have! If you do, please post that information and let more and more people know. Thank you!. CEL
How long were you floxed before starting the Selenium? I have been taking the Selenium for over two years, and the vit c, and mag, none of it ever worked. I am pretty sure it is the amount of time that passed before the diagnosis-over a year. So happy to hear that someone is improving using these supplements. I use a compounding place for my supplements as that is where the Dr. first ordered them from. I am glad you are doing better each day.
OH-Yes, I lost my a great deal of my taste and smell. I did not lose it in the first several months, but after that nothing really matters as to what I eat. I have lost my appetite due to this and have to push to eat correctly. Before floxed, I ate healthy for most of my adulthood and exercised 6 days a week and felt so healthy. Now, total opposite. I have a few friends that I speak with on the phone that are floxed from other states and a few have the same loss of taste and smell as well. Hope it comes back. Right now, I am still working on the pain, insomnia, depression, and so on after three years of this. I have not read one thing yet that I did not already do or am still doing but have never read anything to help with the smell or taste. Best wishes for a full recovery.
I took the Levaquin (750 mgs) for 5 days to cure Pneumonia. My legs became extremely swollen and I couldn't bend my knees. I was concerned that my painful tendons were going to burst. I've taken numerous supplements, divided over the day. I take 200 mcg. of Nature's Way Selenium, and take a multi-vitamin w/50 mcg. It is definitely helping me.
If you are following this and not improving, I wonder if you were given the Levaquin for something other than an infection? C.E.
