Are there legal non prescription alternatives that will work similar to Temazepam (for anxiety)?

I have been using unprescribed (for me) Temazepam (10mg) for anxiety and have found one tablet or at the most two works really well and better than diazepam (had this properly prescribed before at 2mg I think).
I use it for travel phobias and find it works quite quickly (in 5/10 mins) when I need it and only use it about every 5 weeks or so, but I am running out.
Are there any legal non prescriptive alternatives that will work as well as Temazepam (and at what dosages will work similar to a 10mg effect)?
It's unlikely I can get a prescription for Temazepam from the doctor and I don't want to lie to get it.
Temazepam is not for anxiety, it is a sleeping pill. They also do not come in 10 mg. Its very unlikely the dr would order it for anxiety. I know of no otc that works like that does. Antihistamines are used for anxiety. They are mostly otc.

Thanks - I know it's a sleeping pill, but find it works well for anxiety and it does come in 10mg blister packs (perhaps only in the UK?)

Firstly, exactly what kaismama said. Temazepam is really short acting also; it induces sleep. You will find nothing over the counter that will be even remotely the same. Some people drink their Valerian Root Tea, that you can buy anywhere, as it is supposed to be calming. That's it really.
Sorry.

Temazepam is NOT short acting, that is why it's prescribed to help people stay asleep, not for falling asleep. Lorazepam, on the other hand, is faster acting, and would be the closest equivalent to temazepam. I've tried both. Temaz wins hands down for staying asleep. It has a perfect 8-10 hour half life for me. I have taken it during the day in lower (i.e. 15mg) doses and it's fine. At night I take 45-60mg. There is no non-prescription equivalent. Trust me, I've looked and tried everything. You can pop a diphenhydramine tab to potentiate temaz a little, but not much interacts with it, not even grapefruit juice. Diphenhydramine alone never kept me asleep all night.

You are absolutely wrong. I am a 34 yr old female vet and my psychologist does prescribe it for anxiety. Normally, yes, it's prescribed for insomnia, however, if you have both symptoms why not treat with one drug. I have found at low doses it works well for anxiety alone.
