I take Klonopin and Gabapentin for anxiety. I wish I'd never started the Gabapentin. I've gained about 40 lbs. My question is which is worse for memory loss? I've had some memory loss and I want to get off of one of them but I don't know which one is worse for your memory.

Klonopin is a benzodiazepine (benzo).
Most benzos have a 'short-term' memory loss in some people. Short-term memory loss is one of the side effects listed by the FDA for some people.
I'm on the benzo Xanax for over 20 years and Most times I can't remember most thoughts in the short term but I can remember almost everything long term. I have no knowledge about gabapentin. I do know that benzos are very hard to get off of. Takes many attempts for a lot of people to get off and stay off completely. If you want to wean off of Klonopin you must taper slowly.
Like 10% less for 10 to 21 days then reduce another 10% for same time frame. Continue until you no longer need it. Every person is different.
Hi, TK!
Both medications have been associated with memory loss with long term use and/or abuse, but the benzodiazepines have been more frequently shown to cause memory loss and other memory impairments in some users.,
I don't know about Klonopin, but I've been taking Gabapentin for years and have no memory loss.
