Most people 'adults'either know or have heard of Valium, but when asked about other benzodiazepines, they hesitate, may know one or two! So,is it in medical term the best of benzos?Or was it just a wide spread rumor that so many heard about ???
Is Valium from all those benzos the 'safest' ?

Hello ace-rick. A fair question. This one, I"ll answer, and to boot, I'll not in turn ask you one, meaning a question. I enjoy this type of question for its conversational. I was on this drug when in my teens. For my anxiety. I've in front of me, a text book, which in it, has nothing but raves, in its review over valium. Years ago, there was a saying, which went more or less like this "you need to relax man, take/pop a valium" much like the drs. "take two asprin and call me in the morning" It is extremely habit forming. As far as the benzos go, this one is the mother load. Followed in hot 2nd place by xanax. Again, my personal opinion, having taken these two for three and four years. Does valuim work against anxiety, panic attacks? You bet. Its history stands alone. It works extremely fast, you can feel it within the hour, I felt it working in less than 15 minutes. Extremely difficult and dangerous to stop cold turkey.
Edit that, tapering is a battle. Actually, its more like a war. I was hospitalized and detoxed as a result. Well, chatted away, have a great memorial day, its a special day for so many of us. Ace-rick,theres fresh coffee on, still a few doughnuts, and if you care to, sit a spell.
I take valium and have had no problems with it, now Soma i have had many a problems with that is a drug i suggest you stay away from.
Hey BRRM,you suffer from insomina? If so,there are good medications I could suggest to you... ace
what's that, now remember i'm already on methadone, valium, xanax, dalmaine, and a beta blocker
Wow BRRMARS !! I'm not sure about the interactions between them, but you make me now to ask if you have ever tried Neurontin, gabapentin ??
yes it gave me restless leg syndrome
Hey ace_rick,
Not sure that it is any safer than the others, just been around a long while so more fimiliar. Because it has been around longer it has more of a track record and that might be why it is perceived by some to be "safer". By the way, there are some 17 or 18 different benzo's.
best wishes,
Laurie
Thanks laurie,
I've read there are 36 kinds of benzos..ace
Really, I'll have to remember that tidbit of info.
vallium is one of the easiest ones to overdose on because of the addictive qualities and how long the half life is on them... they build up in ones system and at some point your body says enough is enough. All benzos have risks, but if you have n qualty to life because of whatever reason you habe to weigh pros and cons. Your doctor can tell you more about this and I am pretty sure the longer the half life the less addicting and safe... but they (any benzo) is addicting, and your doc is the one who can deem it safe for you or not!! GOOD LUCK
Hi kkellie,
thanks for your input..So long half-life is less risky?I gree,SR,XL safer than immediate release. But does that mean Xanx XL is safer than Valium since its half-life is longer ??
