My Insurance doesn't cover Saxenda but I would really like to try it but I can't afford the $1200 per month for the cost of the medication. I have tried every weight loss program / pill without successful results. I have also tried to appeal to the insurance company without results. Any thoughts on how to get this drug cheaper??? My provider also doesn't have samples.
What to do when your insurance won't cover Saxenda and you can't afford $1200 per month?

Me too I can't afford it, in my country Canada I had 50% for first time, and now I'm not allowed to get this discount, If I have to continue the process of losing weight O Jane to spend $450 Canadian to buy a boxed that comes with 5 pens inside. Unfortunate O have to stop my diet because I can't afford buying saxenda
I was in the same situation but as someone stated above, victoza is basically the same thing just a lower dosage but, because its listed to treat diabetes 2 insurances will cover it. I've been taking now for 2 months and have lost 20 lb, (Yes thats right)it's the first thing that's worked for me , I love it...
What dosage victoza were you on that you lost 20lbs in 2 months
I live in Canada, can't get it too, the first time I had 50% off discount and paid $225 Canadian, now that I need more, Can't get the discount here in Canada, they want me tonpaid$445 Canadian, O can't afford it, now I have to stop using it, the discount card that saxenda.com provide Can't use it in Canada, and my dr he doesn't have more samples to give me.
I order from Marks Marine Pharmacy in Canada as well. It takes my order 3 business days to reach me in Alabama. Great folks to work with!!
I have been taking saxenda for 2 months and I have lost 10 kilos, but my insurance doesn't cover saxenda, and I I can't afford it, because it cost me in Canada $450, I need help to lose more 20 kilos, I was 110 kilos, now is 100, pls help me with more saxenda pls.
In the US it's over $2,000. Most insurance won't cover and the drug company coupon is only for 200 off! So, for us, $450 is a great deal. We are all getting it from Canada! I think it's worth the money for my son's health, even though it is putting us in debt. I don't know where else you could find it for less than Canada, sorry.
Can you please let us know what web site. So we can get it too thank you
What can we do
What do I have to do to receive a sample of Saxenda??

Ask for help
I am going to try Marks! Thanks for the info. I have been using Saxenda for about 4 months and have lost 25lbs. I had a lapband surgery, then had that removed and a gastric sleeve done. I still kept gaining back weight, this is the first thing to take away that raging appetite. I love it! Effective 12/01/20 my new insurance will not cover it.
Hi annetteaep
How is the Saxenda working for you from Marks Marine Pharmacy. Our story is the same, I am so frustrated with the weight gain and want to try the Saxenda but 1200, I can’t afford. I am want to try Marks but have never did mail orders before
I get my saxenda from marks marine pharmacy in Canada. It is $475 a month plus $25 shipping but much cheaper than $1200+. Marks marine pharmacy is a real legit doctors office and pharmacy in Canada. I did A LOT of research on this because I couldn't afford the cost in the US and sacenda is the only thing that works for me.
I’m in the same boat. Insurance won’t cover and I am so happy with my results from my sample pen, I’m ready to pay $1,200, but certainly do not want to! Did you have any issues obtaining from Mark’s Marine?
No issues with marks marine pharmacy at all. I called them and spoke with the pharmacist. I explained that I had a prescription for saxenda but had never done any mail order type prescriptions before . he explained how easy it was. I took a picture of my prescription and emailed it to them. After they received it, someone called me and I gave her my payment info and address and she explained that it comes in a cooler pack to stay cold. Very easy and they will explain to u if u have amy questions. Marks marine pharmacy is a life saver! Or should I say a wallet saver!
Retsbot I would like to know more about your experience w/Marks Pharamacy
Sure... what would you like to know?
How long does it take for you to receive your order of saxenda from marks marine pharmacy?
I live in Florida and it takes about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to get here after I order it
Thanks for the quick response on the shipping time (I live in Oregon). I have just one more question... is shipped from Canada or from one of the suppliers to Marks marine pharmacy?
I believe it cones directly from marks marine pharmacy in canada. Like they fill it and package it there.
I am starting this for the second time because I could no longer afford Saxenda. I would like to know if all I need to do is ask my physician for a prescription, or can I send a photo of the package with the refill information. I already submitted my original presentation to the pharmacy to get my first fill.
U may be able to submit a picture. Do u still have the physical prescription? U could ask your doctor to re-write it for you for the remaining refills then take a picture of that and submit it. As long as it isnt over a year old. I know for a fact marks marine pharmacy will fill it.
Can you use your discount card with Marks marine pharmacy?
I'm not sure if you can use your discount card or not. I never did but it would be worth a try
I purchased through Marks Marine, great service. I scanned my RX with my phone and uploaded it, I got a call in about 5 minutes because I checked the box to have the pharmacist call me. They sent a few emails that I had to reply to and in about a week it was at my door, I live in Florida. I still don’t want to pay 500$ but it’s better than 1200$!
I'm so happy u gave marks marine pharmacy a shot! They are amazing!
Excellent, I'd like to do that! Would I upload my prescription to a website, and if so, what is that website?
I contacted Mark’s Marine and med is on it’s way! I had exhausted all other avenues with multiple appeals to insurance. Can’t thank you enough!
Those who've ordered from Marks, do you think the saxenda pens are the same quality/good? Seen same effects? The Saxenda Pens are so convenient and I had great success till my insurance wouldn't cover. Just wondering if they are the same from Marks.
I get it from here as well, super reliable and the shipping is really fast. Like 2 days fast, and meds are packaged really well.
There is a patient savings card available at saxenda.com
it only pays $200. so leaves you paying $1000. still undo-able for most people to pay. Drug company/dr office would only give me 1 pen/sample. Not much good. I was told drug company would give samples to those whose insurance would not pay. My Insurance did pay for 1 round 2 years ago. but then when you start losing weight, they won't pay.
Saxenda and Victoza are the exact same thing, with three important differences: 1) Saxenda is a maximum 3.0 dose, Victoza is a maximum 1.8 dose. 2) Saxenda is authorized by the FDA for weight loss. Victoza is authorized by the FDA for diabetes. 3) Saxenda is very expensive and usually not covered by insurance because of its recognition by the FDA as a weight loss drug. Victoza is more affordable and often is covered by insurance because of its recognition by the FDA as a diabetic drug.
Therefore, if you are seeking to try Saxenda - but can not afford it, another option is to see if your doctor will prescribe you Victoza. They are the exact same chemicals, and made by the exact same company and the 1.8 dosage of Victoza is a level you would pass through as you ramp up on dosage (starting at .6, 1.2, 1.8, 2.4, 3.0) on Saxenda anyway.
So, the difference between the two is that when you are authorized under your prescription to take this drug at a dosage of .6, 1.2, or 1.8 per day it is called Victoza and covered by health insurance. When you are prescribed to take this drug at a dosage of 2.4 or 3.0 per day, it is called Saxenda and then often not covered.
This comes from someone who had health insurance for a year that covered Saxenda - I had really awesome results with it, and then had to switch to Victoza when I switched jobs and lost health insurance coverage that would cover Saxenda. I am anxiously awaiting any opportunities for me to again be able to afford Saxenda and in the meantime, while I'm not losing any more weight, have been able to maintain most of my weightless so far by making due with Victoza. Good luck!
Saxenda® is not for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Victoza is not covered due to it being RX's for diabetes and NOT weight loss. I have tried to get it because even with the savings card the Saxenda would be $1100 for me! Maybe Ill just win the lottery so I can lose weight on Saxenda... lol
