I've learned that if you don't lie down and close your eyes, the Ambien won't work. Have wasted so many by getting interrupted within that 10 minutes.
I have found it makes s huge difference to take it on an empty stomach. If I have even a small snack within 2 hrs of taking it it doesn’t work.
I have the same reaction. The first time I tried it - my prescription is for 10 mg. - I was wide awake several hours after taking it. I tried it the next time I could not sleep with the same result. I don’t get it either since I know people who also use it who swear by it.
I asked the pharmacist who replied, “Yeah. After a while you will develop a tolerance to it.” I pointed out that it didn’t work from the first night! And I was worried about taking it because I had heard so many stories about sleep walking!
I have had insomnia for a decade and finally asked the doctor for some help. My dad was a terrible insomniac and I wonder if it’s passed on. I’ve tried the non-medication techniques as well as melatonin. I just turn on the tv or play a video game - it beats staring at the clock all night.
It's the same with me, but probably because I've built up such a tolerance to it. I've always had sleep issues- especially insomnia. When I first took this 10 yrs. ago (10 mg.), it worked fairly quickly. After a few years, I started on 20 mg. That only worked about a year. I then started Seroquel (100mg.) and that worked. It helped to switch between the 2 every few months. Sorry, I do feel your pain!!
I get a script for 20mg of ambien..I have absolutely no qualms our fear of taking that..it's out of your system in a few hours and I take it safely and always with someone around... I'm to the point that I actually need 3 pills so Doc is refusing me Antfor 2 weeks... I took sonata over an hour ago and I can see how well that's doing for me what kind of doctor should I see that can control my dose but also have some lee way and care if I run short as time or 2?
