The only emergency pill, proven can prevent pregnancy during the 24 hours around ovulation, is Ella (Ulipristal Acetate). Plan B might, but it has not been proven.
You can see this on the Ella website.
However, even Ella isn't guaranteed to work.
Chances of Plan B working would have been higher if you had taken it sooner. However, you may still find you avoid pregnancy.
It's not advisable to take Ella once you've taken Plan B, as not enough research has been done on using the 2 drugs, together, & there is a concern, that, used close together, they may cancel each other out, so neither drug protects you.
If you want an additional method of emergency contraception, you could have a Paragard IUD, fitted by a doctor, within 5 days of the sex. This may prevent implantation of the pregnancy, if Plan B fails.
So there’s a chance that I could be pregnant because I took the Plan B late?
There's a chance you could be pregnant because you were very close to ovulation, so Plan B, taken so close to ovulation, may not work.
In general, it's best to take Plan B as fast as possible, but when you're that close to ovulation, that's particularly important.
Once you're within 24 hours of ovulation, Ella is the better option. In fact, in the UK Pharmacies give you Ella if you're already in your fertile window, rather than Plan B.
