I am 74 and have severe arthritis. My doctor has given me meloxicam in the past and it really helped. She will not let me take it for more than two weeks. I’ve had other people tell me that they are taking meloxicam on a daily basis for a long time. Is it really not safe to take meloxicam for chronic pain? I am really in pain and ibuprofen ,tylenol, cbd, and curcumen don’t help much. Does anyone have any other ideas.
How long can you take meloxicam?

Answers
"Meloxicam Can Cause Long-Term Harm. All medications have potential side effects. Long-term use of NSAIDs may increase the risk of stomach or intestinal bleeding, ulcers, or holes. Long-term use of non-aspirin NSAIDs may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke."
"Naproxen. One of the best over-the-counter Meloxicam alternatives is Naproxen. A similar dosage of Naproxen will offer the same pain alleviation effects. Unlike other NSAIDs, Naproxen effects last longer, meaning patients don't need to take it as often."

I suggest you speak to your Dr. before you decide what to do.
