Hi, Annette!
I found this in some of the literature on escitalopram (Lexapro, Ciplex):
"Here's a general timeline for how escitalopram might start to work:
1-2 weeks: You might begin to notice some subtle changes, particularly in physical symptoms like improved sleep patterns, increased energy levels, or appetite. However, you're unlikely to experience a significant shift in mood or anxiety at this point.
2-4 weeks: Early signs of improvement in anxiety symptoms might become more noticeable, such as feeling calmer or less on edge. Some individuals may also see initial reductions in depression symptoms.
4-6 weeks: For most people, this is when the antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects become more apparent. You might experience a noticeable lift in mood, feel less sadness or hopelessness, reduced anxiety or worry, and an increased interest in activities you once enjoyed.
6-8 weeks: The full therapeutic benefits often become more prominent during this time. You may feel a more stabilized mood and experience less depressive thinking or anxiety symptoms, feeling more in control.
Beyond 6-8 weeks: If your dose is correct, you should continue to experience improvement. However, if after 6-8 weeks, you're not experiencing significant improvement, it's crucial to talk to your doctor. They might need to adjust your dosage or explore other treatment options."
"Escitalopram (marketed as Lexapro and Cipralex) is absorbed relatively quickly after oral administration, reaching its highest concentration in the bloodstream (peak plasma concentration) typically within 0.5 to 4 hours, with some sources stating up to 5 hours."
Hope some of this helps.

Hi,
Most people start feeling better the fisrt couple of weeks, sleeping improves, eating habits also improve, mood, etc... I say in most people as everyone is different and react differently to medications, for this antidepressant most people start feeling the full therapeutic effect within 6 to 8 weeks if taken as prescribed.
