I drink about a 6 - 8 light beers almost every evening. I want to quite this habit and always start the day saying I am not going to drink tonight, but soon as wheel of fortune comes on I have that first beer. I know I don't have a physical addiciton to alcohol, just mental. I want to get out of the habit. Can I take antabuse the next day after I have drank or do you have to wait a certain amount of time? Thanks
How long do you have to wait before taking antabuse after drinking beer?

Hello Texasjules. the proper way to take it is on a daily basis. Say, first thing in the morning, with a glass of juice or water. Thats it. And don't drink with it. If you do drink alcohol, your body will go through some severe reactions, and if you've consumned enough of it, could be fatal. best to you.
To be safe have a couple of sips then wait. Usually the outcomes is uncomfortable (even) after a couple of sips but not dangerous, and you wont crave for more. Bit yuk feelng.
Its very frustrating when someon asks a question and they get 2 stupid answers that have nothing to do with the question so i will answer the question. you asked how long you have to wait after drinking alcohol for you to be able to safely take an antibuse without being ill. Wait 2 days to be on the safe side and take it in the morning so that when the evening comes and you want a drink, well you already know you cant have one. Hope this helps
Just found out something new that should help, you can take it 24 hours after your last drink so this should be easier now.
Now aren't you Stupid! der
Ive been taking antiabuse daily for four months now and wonder how long after taking last pill is it safe to drink alcohol? I would assume it would be in my system awhile.
From experience, I would wait about 30hours since antabuse will cause very very bad reactions (I've tried to drink on it and tried to drink up to 14 days after taking one pill) drinking on it causes your face to become red, very very bad headaches, vomiting and possibly having to go to the hospital due to hypertension. You can die if you drink a large amount while on it. In my experience it took up to 14 days after my last dose to be able to drink and have no side effects. But this was after only one dose so if you've been taking it for a long time then you may need longer than 14 days. I always suggest taking only a few small sips and waiting about a half hour to see if you have any side effects. If not then drink away. But once again this is just my experience. Please do it safely.
