I am (unfortunately) taking Norco, and me ears are ringing a bit, I find this just a wee annoying! Anyone else experiencing this? It seems to be exacerbated by water in my ears as well.
Does anyone know if opiate pain meds can cause tinnitus?

I have the same thing happen while taking suboxone. My sub doctor would never take my concerns seriously so I just gave up on it and accepted it. Wow... now I know what was going on... thanks sweetlemon!
Do you have this tinnitus while taking the suboxone or just on the Norco-what is Norco? Hope you figure this one out! Tough stuff huh! Well hang in there! Just know your not alone!
HI STP,
No subs for this girl. Just on norco. I hate to say this, but I am glad I'm not alone in this wee problem, and really, in the grand scale of life, it is not so bad, just annoying, perhaps I am cranking the itunes entirely too loud? lol !!
Lara
It doesn't matter what pain meds I take this happens to me. I'm glad to hear im not the only one. Mines not a ringing but more of a roaring. I just started bupenorphine and it's happening again. I can handle it as I don't have pain.
Hey hon,
Sorry to hear you are not feeling so good. Tinnitus is not listed as a side effect in any of the literature that I have read but Norco can cause dizziness which has to do with the ear so may be related.
Do wish I could fix it for you, keep those ears dry and I'll pray the tinnitus goes away quickly,
Laurie
Thank you Laurie! I forgot to mention, I had pnuemonia (sp) about 10 years ago and had a middle ear infection as well. I also had vertigo, I believe that is what it is called, I was quite dizzy indeed.
Could it be related to that episode?
Love,
Lara
I doubt it seriously. You probably just reacting to the Norco a little and it will pass soon. Hang in there girlfriend, call the doc if it gets too bad.
most opiates will say that they can cause dizziness as Laurie says the ear problem may be related to the pills
Thank you Billy !!
I believe there is a connection, wherever I take subutex i normally get a kind of eye ball headache, and for the first time I have this horrible ringing in my ears... but it almost seems as if it took some preasure off my eye when it started to ring. I definently think there is a connection. Hope this goes away soon =(
Hi, im new here, but looking for answers bout tinitus for my son who has been abusing opiate pain killers. In reply to you, Sweet Lemon... i think your tinitus can be related to the infection, because i had similar problem many years back & was told by doc that it can cause inner ear degeneration. I dont have any more episodes of vertigo for a few years now, but i do have moderate tinnitus, most of the time. Its quite livable, i tell myself its Angels talking to me... LOL. When u get new meds from your Doc., ask if they will cause tinnitus. You can minimise it that way. Love & many blessings. Sharon
I have it too but from a head injury. My was in ww2 and said the guns going off close to him gave it to him. He told me to try ginkgobiloba it helps but I still sleep with white noise on. I read that the asprin tylnaol and ib prophin in perscrip pain med can cause it too. Good luck!!
