Yes, because I have wanted to get off of all SSRI's for many years now because I think they have almost ruined my sex life.
I go to a board certified psychiatrist at a teaching hospital who has many awards for "teacher of the year" in his office.
This could be described as funny, but it is not. On 100 mg of Zoloft for about 6 years I was feeling more and more depressed. So Mr. Wonderdoc suggested I increase the Zoloft to 150, then maybe higher.
Uh Uh, nope. I had told him several times about my inorgasma and like most of them, they just shug and say, well that's too bad. So I, Me a litte peon suggested Wellbutrin for about the 4th time. Finally, he agrees. I will taper off the Zoloft and start the W at the same time.
So I get to 50 mg. Zologt and 150 mg. Wellbutrin over time. Then he exclaims, " You are doing well on this Combination Treatment. We will stick with it! Like it was his idea. OK :.
Well the sex has improved but not enough, and I have always have been active. My next step is to go to 25 mg. Zoloft and 200 mg. Wellbutrin. I think I will suggest this next visit.
I do feel better and I feel the Zoloft was such a downer for me it made me more depressed. I can't blame the doc. because 1. They are pretty much all alike, and 2. They have no idea even how these SSRI's work and usually have to try at least 2 for severe Depression. For Panick attacks, Zoloft shines, as do all SSRI's, but stay on too long and it's hard to get off them.
Good Luck
Hi Julie; Girl, do I ever here you loud & clear. I've been on Sertraline [Zoloft}for 9 yrs. and it's time I got off it. I forgot how to spell "sex"! Wellbutrin seems to be very popular. I hope it's good because i'm going to try it.
Sacosam
Sacosam. I have been on Zoloft for years now but I thought the decreased libido was from being post menopausal. I just did not say anything but my poor husband has suffered. I will talk to my doc about Wellbutin. Thanks!

I was on the same combo several years ago. The zoloft just didnt work, but the Wellbutrin did so I took myself of Zoloft and felt the same. That just justified to me the Zoloft wasn't for me.
I take 150mg Wellbutrin XL with my 100mg Zoloft (the latter I've been taking for my Panic Disorder but which killed any and all sexual urges I had before). So we added Wellbutrin to help with the sexual side affects. It's definitely helped (though I was on 300mg at one stage and my anxiety shot right up so 150mg is better for me), but I do feel there's room for improvement. I'm going to see if my psych thinks it's a good idea to drop the Zoloft a bit lower. Overall, I think this is a good combo, even better if you don't have panic or anxiety issues like I do. Zoloft can make me feel sluggish and zombie like at times so the Wellbutrin helps me feel more awake. Although, my psych did say that long-term this is a dangerous drug combo due to the fact that both drugs lower a person's seizure threshold. Anyway, that's something just to keep in mind and keep an eye on.
The only real bummer for me about this combo is that it's completely out of the question to have even a glass of wine, I hear people go into complete psychotic, dysphoric mania and black out. Not great. But anyway, small price to pay now that I actually get to have a sex life with my boyfriend.
I've been on varying doses of zoloft for abt. 15 years. My doc added Wellbutrin mainly to help w the sexual side effects. I've Be
been on 100 mg zoloft /day for a couple of years. She started me at 100 mg Wellbutrin /day for the first 2 months, and just bumped me up to 125 mg/d. I like it and haven't had any problems that I'm aware of. I'm a bit more awake /restless - but she was right abr the other problem. It's easily cut my time in half !!!
My dr. upped my Wellbutrin from 300 to 450 and added 25 mg of Zoloft.
I found when I took Zoloft at nite- kept me up..did nothing. Today I took both in the morning..GREAT DIFFERENCE..I FEEL ALIVE AND VIBRANT..have my energy and my mood improved..I've been on Wellbutrin 300 & 450 for 5 yrs..Great... I recently got Lupus and Raynauds... had to leave my job..got very depressed so now they are trying to boost my mood since it affects me overall and especially now with the Lupus..Comments?
I've been on Wellbutrin XL 300 mg for about a year and 1/2 it helped a lot with my depression and libido my dr just recently added the generic Zoloft for my anixety but I'm worried it may affect my libido and that's very import that it doesn't anybody know anything?
No Merc, I have never tried this combination. It's not that unusual, but if one at the proper dose works well, ask your doc why he prescribes 2? Unless they work on the different receptors, nuero transmitters, endorphines, uptake inhibitors, whatever..I don't see the advantage of being on 2. Hope you get the answers from your doctors. Good luck,

My doctor told me yesterday that they do indeed work on two different neurotransmitters.

this was rec by my doc if Zoloft alone did not help my depression. Im not sure my ? has been answered... has any one of you been on this combination? but thank you for the concern
Merc, I have been on Zoloft for many years now. I started having some anxiety and alittle more depression so my doc put me on Abilify. It works for me and I have no side effects. I have not been on Wellbutin. Talk to your doc about Abilify. I wish you the best!

marc my husband takes both of the meds you do and they work really well for his depression.
I am currently on Zoloft and Wellbutrin. Prescribed by Dr. He said this rather common.
I feel better than ever! I take 200mg of Wellbutrin first thing in the am. I take 100mg of Zoloft before bed.
The Wellbutrin I used to take alone. I felt anxiety on that alone. Although it did help with depression. So he started me on Zoloft. That worked great but it made me sleepy.
So, he was looking for a solution for my ADD. He knows I'm a recovering Alcoholic so Adderal and all the stimulants meds were out of the question.
I guess Wellbutrin has been helpful in mild ADD cases.
So he started me on 200mg of Wellbutrin in the am.
I feel happy and energetic when I get up. The zoloft seems to negate the anxiety of the Wellbutrin. Thats when my Dr. said that its a good combination.
I get up feeling happy and energetic. I feel normal.
Hope this helps
My husband was taking both Zoloft and Wellbutrin and felt good once he stopped the Zoloft he started crashing. We are seeing his doctor tomorrow
hi nerc459,both of these drugs need to build up in your system for up to 1 month before you feel any benefits of the drug. if you were to starte taking them both and feel an adverse reaction you might be stuck with that feeling for quit some time. personally i would check with my doc or my pharmacist before you take either of them. hope this helps you to make an informed decision... pete
You should not take those meds at the same time if one is not working ask your doc for something else, theres also a drug you can take with an antidepressant its called abilify that works along with the med your taking, hope this helps
It is preferably to consult your doctor regarding using both 2 medication at the same tine. Self-treatment may lead to different severe health problems
Self treatment? Only a Dr. can prescribe. Not sure how a person could self treat WITHOUT Dr. consultation.
