I developed tingling in both my legs and right arm after a traumatic event. I have had it for over three years now and wonder if anyone else has had it this long. My legs can't get cold as then they hurt. I have been taking 300mg 3 times a day and wonder if it even helps. I have been tested for nerve damage and MS and anything else and all tests reveal that everything is ok. This tingling is so annoying. I notice it is better when it is warmer outside.
I have even tried acupuncture, seen a chiropractor and doing massages. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you
Does gabapentin help tingling?

Have you been tested for your ck level? My polymyositis starts like that and MRI for all types of MS and ALS were ruled out, it took a trip to the ICU to get figured out. See a rheumatologist and/or a neurologist. They have some pretty good ideas. Keep seeking. There are all kinds of diseases out there and many that are rare. I wish you luck and relief of pain.
Gabapentin is made for nerve pain, or at least that's why I've taken so much of it in the last 30 years. First you need to know what the tingling stems from and if it's determined it is or there's a high likely hood that it is a nerve problem, then yes Gabapentin is your medication. However, if you have other reasons for tingling than nerve pain I don't think Gabapentin is the right medication. First of all I would find out exactly what's causing the tingling, it could be many other things because there are several reasons for tingling you really need to find out all you can first. Also, you don't mention where the tingling is emanating from, which will also help us to answer the question more accurately.
The tingling started after a post traumatic stress event which I unconsciously developed in the hospital. It started with a burning sensation which apparently was a sign of anxiety. Then with all of that I had an allergic reaction to diflucin twice within two weeks but no one figured it out except me. When I had an allergic reaction my right arm went numb and both of my legs cramped. It felt like I was having a stroke. I finally started feeling great for a month and then my right leg went to sleep and it wouldn't go away. I then spiraled out of control and started having panic attacks and fell into a deep depression as I couldn't deal with the tingling and the crawling. I was seeing a neuorologist at the time for tension headaches. He helped me through it with Xanax along with me seeing the advise of a psychiatrist and therapy. The tingling is gone except in my right arm and legs and sometimes it goes up my back.
I have seeked second opinions as one thinks it is anxiety while others think is from a traumatic event. Therefore I feel the traumatic event was the allergic reaction. I feel great now except for the tingling. It is not really pain unless my legs get cold. Its so odd and I just want to understand it. My psychiatrist says it is not anxiety any longer and I no longer have anxiety or panic attacks. I feel it is some nerve disorder but just wanted some advise as I don't think no one has the real answer. Heat does seem to help it.
It should. Some of the pain I have is tingling in nature and it helps that. Its caused by nerve damage and gabapentin helps pain from nerve problems. If its not helping it can be increased. It has a high max dosage and everyone it seems needs a different amount.
