I have Trigeminal Neuropathy as well as nerve damage in both legs not due to diabetes. It just mysteriously happened. Now my arms and hands are feeling numbness. My neurologist prescribed Gabapentin and I was wondering if anyone has found it to stop the progression of nerve damage.
Can Gabapentin stop the progression of nerve damage?

Gabapentin and Lyrica DO NOT stop the progression of nerve damage. Actually, the opposite. Look at the side effects of these drugs. These drugs only MASK the pain and actually can cause the neuropathy to become worse. Doctors give you these drugs to mask the pain and actually make the problem worse. I found this out the hard way. Doctors make no effort to find root cause, they just give you pain masking drugs. Save yourself a life of pain, be your own advocate and find out what is causing the neuropathy and fix it. For me, it was caused by taking zolpidem. Please look at all the medications you are taking to see if any of them list neuropathy as a side effect and stop taking them (antibiotics are a common cause). Don't let the 'fix' be worse than the initial issue. I would much rather still be lacking sleep than dealing with chronic pain like I am now.
