I also take gabapentin 300 mg three times daily for nerve pain. Been taking both for a couple of years and my scalp is getting worse. Not losing hair just very itchy and painful at times. Just wondering if Cymbalta can cause this.
Gabapentin - Does anyone get an extremely itchy burning scalp from taking Cymbalta 30mg?

I had an itchy and sore scalp when I was taking Cymbalta. My scalp was so sore it hurt to brush my hair. I’ve tapered off Cymbalta and the itchiness and soreness is gone. I have since read about people using Biotin shampoo or Biotin supplements to help. Might be something worth looking into.
Thank you for your answer. I’m also on gabapentin as well. My plan is to taper off both of them. Knew it had to be one or both of these meds to cause this side effects. Am also starting to get headaches as well. I’m on generic Cymbalta 30 mgs a day for a couple of years. I would like to use the counting bead method. My dr thinks just skipping days is good enough. I don’t agree. How many beads are in the generic and how many should I remove a day? I don’t care how long it takes to completely stop the meds. I’m going to start with the Cymbalta then will begin tapering the Gabapentin. It’s time. Any suggestions you can give me is truly greatly appreciated. Ty.
Gabapentin can cause the itching too. I was taking Lyrica and it caused the itching and soreness also. I tapered off by the bead method. It does take longer but the withdrawals were minimal and manageable tapering this way. I opened 3 capsules, counted the beads and because the amount of beads in each capsule are different I then divided by 3 to get an estimate. I tapered off Lyrica first because I heard Cymbalta was harder for most people. It happened to be true for me. I had headaches from Cymbalta too. Lyrica Survivors (Pregabalin and gabapentin Support) and Cymbalta Hurts Worse support groups on Facebook helped me so much with my tapers. They have great information and because of the thousands of people in these groups I didn’t feel alone. Making the decision to taper off Lyrica and Cymbalta was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
