I must agree, Gabapentin is not a usual "get high" medication.
Tell this guy that you will call the police on him if he takes your medication again. Tell him this, and mean it! If he rips off your meds again, make certain you call the police!
He deserves it.
Best wishes to you,
Lara
I don't kow that the police would care since its not a controlled medication.
kaismama, it's STILL theft... controlled substance or not.
Your friend,
Lara
He can still get in big trouble for selling them to others or having pills for which he cannot produce a legal prescription. Not to mention as LaurieShay says below, he could take a lethal dose just trying to get high!!!
Tee
Actually, Neuronton does get a person "High" I have friends who go do emergency room visits just to get this drug. Nuronton was also taken off the list of medications that jails and prisons use because people got high off of it.
All medications are controlled substances. The DEA controls all medications using a specific number.
Gabapentin is not a contolled substance. And not all rx are to be considered a controlled substance by the DEA. However one state MASS. has a VI rating which is basically every rx... not the federal govt. such as the DEA.Think narcotics and benzodiazepines.Bp meds or rx ointments have no value or interest to the DEA.
It's illegal just to have somebody else's prescription so unless he can prove it's his he'll still get charged with possession
It is a common "get high" drug now. Maybe your answer was correct 5 years ago.
Police mostly know about Gabapentin and it cousin Lyrica as they are widely abused and deliver a strong high if abused.
I've taken my first single pill and I'm flying higher than a kite and hate it. I'm giggly, trouble walking, everything looks super high definition, my brains like "woaahhhh duuuude" and I have massive cotton mouth. I do not drink or use any other prescription what so ever. This is insane. I don't like it.
The guy needs help and jail isn't the answer
Get a life
Yikes!! Gabapentin is not considered addictive nor do you catch a "buzz" from it. If he is taking it in overdosing quantities, he maybe feeling something though he could kill himself too. Lock the medication up in a little lock box or other container so he can not steal from you. You maybe saving his life or someone else's.
we had pills in lock box but he found the key no we will get a combination safe
get a combination lock and combination. There's a thing called a Navajo safe-you might want to put your key there- It's called a shoe. I was homeless in 1997, and I kept my truck key in my sock, so nobody could steal it. I taught at a rough school. I put my purse and everything in the locker in my classroom, then I put the key in my sock and my foot in a shoe. Also you can get a camera system- they have one camera systems, where it will record this relative. Sounds like a relative. Grandmothers are stolen from more than anybody else. Grandma loves the poor baby. You are being abused in this situation, because your medication is being stolen. Some states and cities have specific laws and agencies to deal with elder abuse. Good luck-
I meant a box with a key and combination.
I wanted to say, that yes it will get u high... I don't know if people are asking. Because there looking for a new high or because there truly concerned, but they should only be taken as prescribed, to whom they're prescribed! Because to anyone else that's taking them they can be fatal!
This is Pam Barta I am writing telling you this person that was in pain a lot from Diabetes pain, he passed away June 15. It was possible he overdosed from Gabapentin ,we had found he had like a stockpile of the drug. Drs had kept raising his dose of the drug and he kept all the extra pills, yet still he was stealing the drugs from me when he could??? On the death certificate one of a few causes of death was septic, infection of blood.
Pam, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm late in responding, I do apologize.
I don't believe gabapentin could cause septicemia, but anything is possible.
Hope you are doing fine by the time you read this.
Lara
Yes, you can get a benzo type buzz when you mix it with vodka. I do it every day, but i dont recomend doing this because youre not supposed to mix alchohol with it.
It does get you a buzz but you have to take 10+
That isn't true. You take enough Gabapentin and you definitely get high. Trust me, I know.
you can definitly catch a good mello buzz on gabapentin similar to pain pill
I was prescribed Gabapentin from the VA last Summer. As the dose increased I became in a state that i call feeling drunk. I called the Dr. He suggested i stick with the drug till my body got used to it. The symptoms got worse and i was falling down and a wreck. I went to the VA and they pulled me off of the drug. From what i gathered from my Dr is that some patients although rare have this happen. This is my experience with Gabapentin. People have different reactions to medications. And Im one of those that "caught a buzz" from this drug.
I just started taking gabapentin to see if it will help with the pain I'm having with frozen shoulder. It's not really helping with the shoulder pain but the aching in the rest of that arm is what I'm hoping it will help. It feels like something is on a nerve going to that arm so how is it working for some of you guys?
That's total bull
I take gabapentin 300mg for a disease I have in my spine.
I'm only told to take 2 a day.
I have severe pain sometimes that forces me to take a few.
After taking 4, I could barley walk, let alone stay alert
Also, it does say on the bottle that it may cause drowsiness.
So they do have something in it to make u feel buzzed
Most combo locks you can get into I have a combo lock lost the combo and there's a failsafe code and it's pretty easy to figure out I'd still go with the key and carry it on your keyring

Hi I totally disagree with what you said. Yes you can get a high off of gabapenatin!! When taken in doses of usually around 1200mg it makes you higher than if you took 5 , 1mg Ativan!! Trust me I refused too take my oxicodone and they gave me gabapenatin and wow I took it 8 hours ago and I still feel it and it's time for my next dose!! You need to really google about how high people can get off of it! Because what you said about not getting a buzz off of it is totally wrong!!! Sorry but I know from experience!!!
Ummmm put his behind out of your house or call rehab give them a choice and they have to choose. I they choose they will lie but be stern.

If they are stealing them from you, Kick them out of your house.
I took my first single gabapentin today and I'm feeling high as a kite. Like Norco flying but slightly different and stronger. Walking like I'm drunk, giggly, flying. It's crazy and I don't want to take any more to be honest.
Laurie, you are off base with your answer. It is physically addictive some degree, yes, you can catch a buzz, albeit a small one compared to other kind of drugs, and there is even a withdrawal component associated with it, including cramping, diarrhea, cold sweats and chills, and anxiety, not to mention the possibility of seizure if discontinued abruptly.
I understand your answer is from five plus years ago, and perhaps much has changed on terms of information.
I had to get a safe with a combination because the same problem. I know it's hard to say no I went through 5 safe but the problem isn't the safe it's a person breaking into the safe.
