Hi there. I am a busy mother with a full-time job and a busy life in general.
I have never taken antidepressant in all my life. I've always been quite happy and never really thought I would end up taking them, but covid and its consequences have hit a bit too hard. I have started taking sertraline after speaking to my doctor. I have been on 50mg for over 6 weeks now, but I am not noticing any great effects on me. I had pretty much all the sad effects at the beginning but they vanished after 2-3 weeks. Now I feel ok and I'm sleeping better, but my mood is not really where it should be. Still have intrusive thought and quite low mood. Just need an encouragement to keep taking these tablets. Will they eventually work? Thank you
When will I finally see the effects of sertraline?

Answers
Hi, kia!
Most people do begin to feel some improvements earlier on but it can take 6-8 weeks to reach full therapeutic levels.
Have you spoken with your doctor about your lack of progress? 50mg is the recommended starting dose and this can be increased to a maximum of 200mg if you're not seeing an adequate response.
This is just a suggestion but you might want to talk with your doctor and get their opinion.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better soon.
