I was told that I have herpes yesterday, but I feel like I waited too long to go to the dr, this is my 1st outbreak & it's absolutely the worst pain in my life . The dr gave me this med 400mg 3x a day . When will I find some relief ? So far I've taken 4 pills since yesterday & also including today .
How fast should Acyclovir work?

Well you be cure for awhile then herpes come back many times then you get aids and hiv then die , thanks to the lucky lady that messed your life up, die happy ☺
Brown99 your comment is incorrect and quite insensitive. I hope this is not really how you feel. Herpes is manageable.
how long after the blister turn in to sores does it ease off i literally can’t go to the toilet it’s that bad i’m constipated it’s just hurts i can’t sit properly lay properly i can’t do anything without pain
Notmychoice how did you get it so young? If you don't mind me asking were you sexually active or through some other way? I'm always curious as to other possible ways to pick up the virus.
I don't mind at all. I was raped by my friend's boy friend. Yeah... So it definitely wasn't my choice... From my being careless or anything. But I can proudly say I live a normal, happy life. I have two beautiful kids and had them vaginally with no complications... None of my sexual partners have ever contacted it or anything.
NotMyChoice you have no idea how much your comment has given me hope, I contracted herpes a year ago after my then partner and i had oral sex and unbeknown to me he had an ulcer inside his mouth :( I felt like my world had fallen apart. The relationship broke up a while after and I just feel like I’d never find anyone again, especially now I’ve had my first outbreak, I’m on aciclovir already I stocked up on them as I read people get outbreaks, but even though I’ve read how common outbreaks are I was kind of getting my hopes up I wouldn’t get any especially as it’s coming up to a year now with absolutely nothing, but now I’m back to feeling miserable, disgusting and down.
Have you got any advice ? Do outbreaks get better like they say? Did you ever feel like this ?
Sorry for all the questions I just feel like I’ll never find anyone or if I do they’ll be disgusted by me :(
Unsure I'm going to post my email on here and Jason you can email me as well and we can talk more about it. Its mommybe4allatgmaildotcom. I put it that way so hopefully it wont get flagged and taken down but save it I'm going to take it down in a couple days or soon as I hear from you all. Ttyl
Not my choice...
For starters thank you for your helpful words on here. I was diagnosed with HSV2 5 years ago. I'm going through my very first awful flare up and I can barely walk. I just started acyclovir this morning. Fingers crossed it helps.
I do have a question though, you mentioned hydrogen peroxide and cornstarch. How exactly do you use these items? Thanks for your time
I just got diagnosed today with herpes I thought I had a uti because I never had one. I feel awful but this is helping me. Doctor told me this could be my only out break. Gave me nothing for pain! Said I could of had it for years but never knew I'm 60!
I found out yesterday that I had herpes.. I believe I waited a little to long before going to the doctor (5days) I've been given the cream as well as the pills to take I started using them last night I'm not really seeing or feeling and change (for the good) I know it takes time but it seems to be getting worst when I looked I saw more bumps that are yet to turn to sores that weren't there yesterday I'm honestly scared and in terrible pain... What should I do?
I was diagnosed with Hsv2 when I was only 13 years old. Now I'm over 30 and let me tell you, it does get easier. Take your medicine... Use cornstarch, peroxide and the main thing I can not live without is hospital strength Dermaplast to spray directly onto the lesions. You will thank me later!
Hi notmychoice!
You seem to know more about this than I do. I was diagnosed on Tuesday and began taking my medication Wednesday night. I was told to take 2 pills three times a day for a week. That’s 400MG three times a day. My question is: What happens when I finish on the seventh day? Do I wait until I need another prescription or am I supposed to take this everyday for the rest of my life to avoid any outbreaks? I hate the thought of waiting around for something to come up before I can treat it. Any suggestions? I’m new to this. Any and all info would be most helpful.
Keep the area as dry as possible. Diaper rash ointments,or powder do not work. It will get better in about a week. No nylon only cotton under clothes will hwil keep moisture away from the affected area.

The first outbreak is the worst by far. It does take at least 3 full days for it to start to work but the sooner you catch your next one the better. The first one will last a couple of weeks, hopefully less if you started the med soon enough. Are you going to be on something daily or just when you have an outbreak. Really there are 2 different dosages, one for when you have an outbreak & one for daily maintenance. Personally I would suggest taking something daily, at least for a little while & the amount of outbreaks you have should lessen with time. Tylenol or aspirin should help some with the pain, but some of it is probably nerve pain & there is not a lot that helps with that. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me & I will help in any way I can. I know it is nice to have someone who can relate. I think you can also send me a private message, if you would prefer.
Also do some research & get some knowledge of what can cause the future outbreaks & how you can tell they are coming on. I know that it really really sucks, to put it nicely. I'm sorry you are going through this!

The first outbreak is usually the worst. It will take a few days before it starts easing up. You can sit in a cool tub of water to soothe it in the meanwhile. Did the dr give you something for pain? That is certainly needed. And some gabapentin. If you would get to the point where you can't pee at all, go to the er.
I was told to take Tylenol for the pain , so I'm doing that .
I'd call and ask about gabapentin. Tylenol for that kind of pain is outrageous. Tell him you heard that gabapentin works good for herpes pain, its not a narcotic or anything, he should order it. I had shingles not long ago, and that is very painful too, its a herpes virus. Gabapentin helped ease it up.
Your sexual contact should be made aware too.
