I've been taking risperidone for several years. I was on a high dose, but have tapered down to a low dose. For many years, I wasn't concerned with having sex. Over the past 2 years I have has a desire to have sex, but have had very little success. I researched my all medicines and found the antipsychotic, Risperidone, can cause ed. I want to try another anti-psychotic, but my Psychiatrist does not want to make the change. I've tried Viagra, tadalafil, and some supplements with limited success.
Erectile dysfunction - is there a fix for ED from risperidone?

You must visit a specialist doctor to prescribe the appropriate medication for impotence... Some psychiatric medications cause ED as a side effect.
I just convinced my primary doctor to send me to a Urologist. Hopefully, I will get a better outcome.
Hi, im sorry this is not a reply to your question but i wanted to ask how long it took you to taper down and fron what dose? Im trying to taper my son down. Its taken several montha to get from 1ml to 0.7ml,. He gets so angry and irrational for the first 3-4 weeks after the tiniest move in dose. He has autism so cant express his feelings. Could you please give me some insight into how tapering feels so i can understand and help him better? Thank you.
I was taking the pills and I tapered down in 3mg increments over about a 4 weeks period each step down. I don't know what that is equivalent to in liquid form.
Thank you. Well done. My son was only on 1mg but we are having horror stories trying to come off in liquid form. It has taken a year to get to 0.7ml going down by 0.1ml every 3-4 months. Irritability and aggression very high.
I'm sorry about the issues you are experiencing with your son. These antipsychotics are a dual edge sword. On one edge they help mitigate psychosis. On the edge they are additive and have many side effects. I hope you find a solution soon.
