That eight year old was me, decades ago.
I took about 45 different antipsychotics and various meds of that type between ages of 7-17. They were used to treat some situational behavioral issues. I have list of pills I was prescribed in early childhood, and I took anything from Apriprazole to Zoloft.
I am wondering if these meds caused damage to my mind and body? If so, is there a way I can fix this damage?
I am an adult now but suffering from anxiety and depression pretty intensely. I fear that these medications may have ruined my brain and caused my current issues.
Would usage of antipsychotics (Abilify, Risperdal, Thorazine) cause long-lasting harm to a 8yr old?

I do not think this is useful to you, but I suffer flupentixol-induced anxiety (an anti-psychotic) which is controlled by procyclidine (kemedrin). I say this because even my consultant psychiatrist did not know that flupentixol (at least in me) could cause anxiety and this drug controls it. ty for reading Simon
Hi, Cats!
Most (but not all) psychotropic medications are routinely prescribed for children over about the age of 6 years or younger when warranted for serious disorders. They correct already present abnormalities which are the underlying causes of mental illnesses and most studies have indicated that they do no harm when used correctly, even long term. There are some glaring exceptions such as the benzodiazepines.
I would suggest that you consult with your doctor for the diagnosis and treatment of the current problems you're facing and I wouldn't be afraid to use medications if your doctor feels they're indicated.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better soon.
