My Dr bumped up my dosage to 225 a few months ago. I’ve been on Effexor XR for over 17 years. The increase didn’t bother me. It has helped. I lost my entire family within the last 3 years. My home suffered a catastrophic 500 year flood (experts said) and my husband left in the middle of it all. The increase helped so much. I’ve tried going off several times in the past. But my migraines always return. So even though it is rough if I forget a dose I still chose to stay on it.
That's your body adjusting to the increase I am on this medication for years so so sorry I ever started taking it the withdrawal symptoms from it are brutal even if I am an hour late taking it I start withdrawals my advice would be wean yourself off it completely the higher the dose the worse it is
Hi, Sean!
Not necessarily for every person but new or increased anxiety/depression is an unfortunate side effect after a dosage increase for some folks. Normally these side effects should resolve within a few days to a week or so.
Are you making a major jump in dose... like from 150mg to the 225mg? If so, and you've had the problem with past increases there's a good chance you will again.
All that being said, yes, for some people this is "normal".
Best regards and good luck to you this time around.
I took Effexor for over seven blessed years and if I could I would still be taking it today. It changed my life... no, it gave me my life back. When I had to stop it due to an unrelated medical condition I tapered off uneventfully in two weeks with no discontinuation symptoms.
Unfortunately, my original clinical symptoms returned with a vengeance and I can no longer take the medication.
