I have anxiety and some panic attacks and I've been on 5 different meds through out the year. I've been on 20mg of celexa for about 6 weeks and about a week ago I went to my doctor because the celexa stopped working. Instead of raising the the doesage of celexa, she gave me prescription for 150mg Wellbutrin. This is my second day taking it and I looked up side effects and I says not to drink alcohol with Wellbutrin. (Could cause seizures) I guess I just want to know if i can drink a few beers here and there while on both medicines?
Can I drink beer with celexa and Wellbutrin?

Um... No.
I wouldn't drink while being on any type of antidepressant/antianxiety medication. it clearly states not to do it. I think the reason is because of the toxicity level you may reach by mixing the two together. it's better to be safe than sorry and plus you don't need to add another problem to something that you're already dealing with. alcohol isn't good with any meds.
Hello,
I'm on 450mg of Wellbutrin and I am a social drinker as well without problems. It may be a gamble because everyone reacts differently to medications but realistically asking someone to completely give up alcohol for a drug is ridiculous. My doctor has told me I can drink moderately as long as I keep him informed of any negative reactions.
One thing is you may want to be on Wellbutrin for a few weeks before you try to have a couple beers just so your body can get adjusted to the new medication.
Best wishes,
Rose
Finally, someone that understands. I mean I understand drinking any kind of alcohol is a good thing to do but it's the kind of lifestyle I live. Me drinking beer occasionally I don't think makes my anxiety any worse and I do not drink because of stress (well not all the time lol). It just makes me feel better that someone has success with mixing the two. I will wait a few weeks and see how I feel. Thank you rose.
No.
Then you shouldn't drink with it. There is several reasons not to.
I enjoy the taste of beer and am a social drinker... I've herd that 150mg is a low dose and lowers the risk. I'm kinda wondering how accurate that is.
It doesn't lower the risk, unless you really want to gamble. I have not touched alcohol since I started on anti depressants 40 yrs ago. Its just not worth the risk.
