Hi Everyone & Bless u all! I take Wellbutrin 150 mg SR & my dear brother take 300 mg XL. I was wondering if you guys take it on an empty stomach or after eating a meal? I like 2 take the wellbutrin before I leave to go to work or on weekends later, as I wake up later on weekends. Do you guys feel a difference when taking it on a full stomach as opposed to a empty stomach? I find that the Wellbutrin SR gives me energy & I feel more alert & enthusiastic, so I am glad that my therapist recommended it to me! What do u guys think about taking on an empty stomach? Thanks for your replies & God bless u!
Just to give you the technical answer to your question about food and its effect on Wellbutrin (bupropion), I share the following from the literature
"Following oral administration of Wellbutrin XL Tablets to healthy volunteers, time to peak plasma concentrations for bupropion was approximately 5 hours and food did not affect the Cmax or AUC of bupropion."
So bottom line, food doesn't affect the absorption of Wellbutrin. I take mine with a big ole spoonful of oatmeal. Yummy and it works great. lol
My pharmacist did not mention anything about taking wellbutrin with food. HOWEVER, through trial and error, I learned the hard way that alcohol Is intensified while on wellbutrin. I avoid alcohol all the time now. Weirdly enough, a cup of coffee with my wellbutrin seems to make a slight difference in a little extra motivation. Just take it the same time everyday and don't be your own shrink. Consult ur dr before tinkering with dosages because I experienced scary psychological side effects trying out doubling my dosage. Bad idea, worst weekend of my life til al that crap finally came out of my system. Good luck to you! And wellbutrin is not for everyone but I'm so happy God planned things perfectly to get the treatment I needed to be a better wife daughter sister aunt! Everyone is speechless by my recovery. Don't stress though if u backslide. Just pick yourself back up and start all over tomorrow!! God bless!!!
