Asking for recent personal experiences with these two generics of the Brand name Wellbutrin SR - if anyone is getting effective relief with one or the other?
Does anyone have as good success with the generic as they did when insurance covered brand name? If so, which generic?
Thanks in advance for replying.
Generic Wellbutrin SR - which is more like brand? "Sandoz" Bupropion SR or "Mylan" Bupropion SR?

I just received some manufactured by Watson . Does anyone have any experience with their generic version ? It seems to be a lot different from other times that I have tried this medication
All formulations contain the same active ingredient (bupropion). The Sandoz generic contains the following fillers, binders, and various coloring agents:
"carnauba wax, hydrochloric acid, hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, FD&C Blue No. 1, hypromellose, macrogol"
The Mylan version:
"anhydrous lactose, colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, hydrochloric acid, hypro mellose, microcrystalline cellulose, polydextrose, polyethylene glycol, stearic acid, titanium dioxide and triacetin."
The difference in the inactive ingredients may be affecting absorption of the drug in some people.
If you find a formulation that works well for you ask your pharmacist to special order it for you. Most pharmacies will comply with this request.
Personally, I've found no difference between the brand name (discontinued in the U.S.) and between the various generics. I've been on several and am currently using Par Pharmaceutical's.
I have had better success with Bupropion SR mylan brand over sandoz.
Hi alfranz: Did you have more unwanted side effects with Sandoz?
Did you have more relief from anxiety/depression with Mylan? And less side effects with Sandoz?
Try Canadian Valeant 300xl - almost as good as brand - costs a bit more but worth it! Sandoz is good but does not have ER. Switching from Brand to Sandoz SR is very difficult because with SR the release is still very fast and doesn't feel anything like the XL. If you've never had XL - then, Sandoz is very good.
Bob: I do better on 150mgs SR release - once a day - instead of twice a day.
Mylan bupropion SR, 150 mg, did not work for me. The brand works perfectly. Do physicians still get samples from pharmaceutical reps? Mine said they no longer get them. Now the hunt for the next generic to take. My physician suggested switching to an XL generic. I know GSK sold this version to Valeant in Canada. Bob, how do you get yours? Can you share a website or pharmacy phone number? I would be willing to try it? Mary
G Mc; I gave you the name of the one I have been on for several years Eio not sure of the spelling but if it came down to the two brands you have asked about I have also had good luck with Mylan over Sandoz now of course this is just me we all have a difference with this one and I can't understand why out of all the generics this is the only one I have to admit I have had a heck of a time with the inert ingredients. good luck my dear friend.
Hi Chuck: So, if I am understanding you correctly - You like the generic Bupropion SR by Eon Labs the best? And your second favorite is the generic by Mylan? And you did not like the generic by Sandoz? Sandoz is the one that gave you the most side effect and problems? I am talking about Bupropion SR in the 150mgs strength. Is that the one you are talking about - 150mgs?
Good to hear from you and see all your comments! Thanks. G
Hi again Chuck: What pharmacy do you get your bupropion sr from Eon Labs from?
Morning, G Mc; yes the one I have been taking is just what you have all typed out and I get it at CVS OR Rite-aid Pharmacy because I just recently changed Pharmacies. Due to CVS stock shortage. And I asked the rite aid to carry the EON FOR MY SCRIPS. WITHOUT A DOUBT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE Bupropion SR This one works the best for me and I take it every 12 hours and for me, it works better than taking the XL. Always nice to hear from you just to say hi or if I can be of any help. Chuck
GMC; Believe it or not from when I typed the answer to the question 1 hour and 42 minutes I was double checking on our BUPROPION SR 150MG these are all the same company and my first preference EON, SANDOZ, BOTH made by Novartis DRUG COMPANY. THEN Zenith or Ivax. BUT Gmc I remember very clear of having problems with IVAX when I was still dispensing so if I would not take ivax I WOULD NOT TAKE ZENITH so now of my choices of Zenith over Sandoz I would buy the Sandoz. Now just a idea it cost not that much more but ask your pharmacist if you can get a weeks worth of the brand you choose I used to do that all the time for my regulars because as you know there may be a slight chance you may have a side effect AND YOU would know in 5 days and then call them and ask them to fill the balance it would be worth it the first time. And I was checking my records I HAVE BEEN TAKING EON AND SANDOZ AND NOT ONE SIDE EFFECT JUST BENEFITS TO ME ANY QUESTIONS LET ME KNOW my very dear friend.
Hi Chuck: Bear with me on this one, please, lol. From this previous comment from you, am I understanding you to say that you prefer Mylan more than you like Sandoz? Or do you like Sandoz better than Mylan? (going by your other comments following these?) Forgive me, but I will copy and paste part of your above comment: ~~ " I have also had good luck with Mylan over Sandoz" ~~.
But, reading further down, on your later comments, I think I understood you to say that your favorite 2 generics of bupropion sr are these - #1) Eon
#2) Sandoz. Is that correct? "Eon" first, "Sandoz" second... but "Mylan" -not so much! At least I think that is what I have gotten out of your comments?
Please be patient with me while I try to sort this out. It is very important to me to get this information correct from you, a pharmacist who knows...
Thanks!
I will try Eon since I have never taken that one, but I just want to make sure of what your second choice is before I get my next prescription filled - Sandoz?
BTW, I appreciate your suggestion to only fill a week's worth when trying a new one. I will try that.
G MC; YES YOU HAVE IT RIGHT AFTER CHECKING SEVERAL SORCES i FOUND EON AND SANDOZ ARE MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY SO EITHER ONE OF THOSE i HAVE NEVER HAD IT BACKFIRE ON ME. I am so sorry it got so confusing one of these post the last one has everything in the right order I well double check so not this one but this is correct but the last on dated 3 days ago has all the correct information if i find it i will copy it and resend to you so we can get rid of some confusion which I am so sorry it got that way. at this point either EON OR SANDOZ IS #1 THEY ARE MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY. CHUCK1957 lET ME KNOW IF ANYTHING IS CONFUSING TO YOU AND NO SORRYS NEEDED THIS IS WHAT i WAS AFRAID OF. DUE TO THE WAY THE INFORMATION KEPT COMING BACK TO ME.
Hi Chuck; Thank you for all your help! I will keep this in mind, for sure, when I get my prescription refilled! I'll let you know how it goes.
I will check out the pharmacies and see who will order it for me. I am not taking it right now, but I plan on refilling it again in the near future.
I am so relieved to have this information from you. I did not know the connection of Eon labs to the brand name Wellbutrin SR before I read your recent posts. Good to know! Hope this finds you doing well...
G
G MC; you have it. You know what would be nice is if we could delete ones like this that are terribly confusing. BUT FOR YOU MY DEAR I PULLED OUT A FEW OF MY BOOKS AND LOOKED UNDER THE PROFESSION SECTION WHICH I HAVE TO ENTER MY LICENCE # FOR THIS ONE IS BAD ENOUGH WITHOUT CHEMOBRAIN. AND HONEY I WOULD BEAR WITH YOU ANYTIME, YOU NEVER HAVE TO WORRY. Wellbutrin SR 150mg (Bupropion sr 150mg) my choices these companies are owned by the company Wellbutrin sr 150 #1 EIO? And #2 Sandoz I have never had any problems with these. G. Just so you know Zenith if nothing else is available But I have lost trust in them since they Sold out to a foreign company out of the country and have had many lawsuits on them for buying up all generics in many things and jacking up the price. Now we should be clear but anything fuzzy let me know my dear friend. and don't forget about buying a week's worth always good to take 5 to 7 days just in case any side effects and then buy the rest.
Or the other brand. Thank you for being by my side during this very rough time in my life. Chuck Wise Sr. ((((YES FINALLY A GOOD EXACT PRINT IGNORE ALL OTHERS CEW TO M GC))) 12/12/17 AT 8:10PM
Mcg both of these are the first choice because they are both made by the same company. EON OR SANDOZ THEN MYLAN BECAUSE THEY MOVED ALL THERE STUFF OUT OF THE USA AND THEY HAVE ALSO HAD ALL THESE LAWSUITS OVER THE LAST 3 TO 5 YEARS DUE TO THERE GREED.HOPE THAT WELL HELP SOME CHUCK1957 AND McG Merry Christmas Chuck.
Chuck - Curious to know what you think about Sandoz SR vs. Solco or Watson. I started on Solco from my local Walgreens at the beginning of my journey and it worked wonders at first, but more recently it feels like the effects have kind of flattened out. For reference I am on a low dose (100sr tablet 1XD in the AM).
Did some research and read some of the posts here, and I went to my local non-chain pharmacy and tried Watson. Worked noticeably differently from the Solco but seemed to ramp me up in the AM and drop off in the afternoon into PM. After I gave it 30 days went back to Solco for two weeks and got next refill in Sandoz.
Only one day so far on Sandoz and everything seems much different already - steady is the word that comes to mind. In a good way. I’m going to give it a whole month and as it happens my doc visit is coming up in 8 days so going to share with him.
Any of this sound consistent with what you’ve heard over the years? Thank you for any insight you can provide.
