I have suffered with IBS most of my life. Always worrying about access to bathrooms. I can go long periods of time with no problems but anxiety will trigger an immediate need to get to a bathroom. Dr. has prescribed dicyclomine. Anyone use this just when you are going to be in an anxious situation ie taking my husband to the ER? Going on an airplane? Dining out with friends? Etc? Maybe taking it before the event? Or should it be once a day?Any suggestions are welcome.

My IBS was also triggered by stressful situations. I've taken dicyclomine for 30+ years and found that it worked best for me taking it on a regular daily basis. You never know when a stressful situation may pop up or even a last minute event. The medicine truly changed my life. Once you've developed the confidence that it's really going to work, well, that doesn't hurt either! You'll be able to relax and stop worrying if you're going to be ok.
Well here’s my take. Use it the day before, and the day of an event to see how it goes. You could always bring along Imodium for break through problems only. Or you can take it everyday just in case as a preventative, and still carry Imodium for those unbearable moments. Hope it helps. Meditate
