I have diverticulosis. Colonoscopy was fine. I never know cramps will happen... just like being in labor. I’ll go to bathroom sometimes solid then cramps worse and end with diarrhea. This lasts hour to five hours. Sometimes can’t make to bathroom. I wear pads to help. 2013 had rectal prolapse surgery. I’ve had colonoscopy and stomach X-rays which are fine. I can feel fine and then bam I start cramping. It’s getting more frequent but I never know when. Afraid to go on vacation or anything

I've had IBS since I was a child and taken dicyclomine for more than 30 years. Like you, there are times when I don't know the diarrhea is going to start. The dicyclomine helps regulate me a great deal. It also helps with the cramping and the general pain from gas bloating. It's allowed me to go from feeling like I needed a map to every bathroom in the city, and missing out on events where a bathroom might not be readily available, to being able to go anywhere I want without worry. It sounds dramatic, but it's truly changed my life for the better. I'd recommend that you give it a try. What have you got to lose? Give it a week or two to truly help regulate your system, although it probably won't take quite that long, and see if it doesn't help. It made a huge difference in my life as I hope it will do in yours. Best of luck to you!
Bentyl is used often for diverticulosis to relax the bowel and prevent the symptoms such as high motility ( sounds like the cause of the cramps you are suffering from). This is a common treatment.
