Actually it does not take 2 weeks for it to take effect. It begins to work immediately. As long as her next shot it not missed you should be covered. If you are worried about it. Go buy a pregnancy test to make sure. The ones from the dollar store are JUST as effective as the expensive ones. They all do the same thing; test the hormone level. But I would say to still use condoms if you are worried, then you are covered x2.

Perhaps guidelines are different in different areas of the World? For 17 yrs, in the UK, I've been told by the Family Planning nurses to always use extra contraception for the first 14 days after having the shot, if I have been late in having my shot or if it is the first shot.

Hello I was wondering, my girls on the depo, and there was a time she missed her shot and didn't get the Injection within a week, already we had our fun time and what not but I'm concerned, she got her injection, but saids like she feels she is pregnant. So should I be concerned or is she over reacting??

My girl as been on the shot for a year and she got her shot in October then I got her pregnant in November and I usually don't even cum in her. I Think I did only once or twice in November. We were both shocked because we have heard great things about the shot and had no problems until Novmeber:,

If June was her first shot, she would have been protected by it 2 weeks after she had it. As long as her next shot is on time, you don't need to wait another 2 weeks. If it's late, you'll need to use other protection for another 2 weeks.
Having unprotected sex in August would have been well covered by the shot. The chances of Depo failing aren't high. It is a very effective method of contraception, although won't protect you against sexually transmitted infections/diseases.
My advice would be to stop worrying, and if it makes you feel better in future, use an extra method of contraception, as all the worry isn't nice. I've been there!

Hi,ok so calm down. Those shots are very effective and there only given every three months so she is protected the entire three months, just always keep the docs appts when it's time for her new shot and As far as her being pregnant that is almost impossible while on depo. Hope this hepls

It's not as safe as y'all are saying it is so be careful. Like I said on a previous comment my girl has been on it off and on for 3 years and has been on it for the past year straight has not missed one appointment. She had her last one in Oct 2015 and I got her pregnant in Novmeber 2015
