Is there anything I can take to stop the spotting/bleeding? It's ruining my relationship. I hate it.

You can try ibuprofen therapy. I've been on depo for three months now with continuous spoting/bleeding. They told me to take four (4) 200mg ibuprofen three times a day for three days straight. I'm on my second day and for the first time in three months i don't need a pad/tampon, but my bleeding is extremely light. Hope this helps !
Does it have to be 4 200mg 3 times a day or can it be 1 800mg 3 times a day?
I got my shot 3 months ago and have to go in a few weeks to get it again. I have been bleeding for a month straight and also had a UTI on top of it. Im not sure if I should see a doctor, but I feel like this is not normal to be bleeding for this long.
My doctor just told me to do this for 5 days. Did it actually work for you? Did the bleeding go away? This is literally day 18 of bleeding
She's not the only one I have sent

Unfortunately, it is different for every woman. There is no "emergency", but I understand your discomfort. I began the Depo shot in August of 2014. As you can see on this post, it is now March 2015. As soon as I got my first shot I developed an ovarian cyst which ruptured quite violently, and I bled for 2 months. I figured I was hemorrhaging. I was terrified. I found out my birth control, as opposed to the cyst, was the cause of my bleeding. I have now had a steady period for 7 months. You women who are spotting for months are lucky, be grateful. 7 months of non-stop bleeding. I am now anemic. My OBGYN told me that after a full years cycle on the shots, most everyone's period will stop. I am going to hold out until August of this year (2015). If it doesn't stop, I am switching. Seems more of a hindrance than a help. I'm sorry you're experiencing this terrible bleeding.
On the other hand I am in a very committed relationship still, I was actually proposed to in October (during the bleeding), and anyone who thinks that your period, or this medical anomaly, is a reason for leaving you, they are not worth being with anyway. That is unfair to you. You have no control over the situation. Good luck, I hope all gets better.
Did your bleeding stop? I got my depo shot a little over two months ago and i bleed really heavy and stop for a day then spot for a day then it's back and really heavy. For the past few days it has just been spotting and really dark.
I started the depo shot five days after my period on the 23 of July. I have had sex after that and i did use protection. I had sex for the first time since then on the 23 of aug without protection and my bf finished inside me. A few hours later i started bleeding. It wasnt heavy but it isnt like my normal period it is now the aug 28 and im still bleeding. Im scared and dont know much bout these things! Is this coming from the shot or to rough sex? Do i need to get off the shot, or is it likely that i have a serious problem?
@Ashleylrw @NewToEverything Ladies, I am still bleeding. In August of this year I decided to permanently stop the injections and to never get another. I have read on multiple sites that it could take, even after the serum has left my system, up to 18 months for all bleeding to stop. That's 3 full years of bleeding if it takes that long, but yes, I am still on a full blown period this much later. I have also found out that this shot ruins libido, which it did for me, and also that it is responsible for a number of accidental miscarriages, and even full pregnancies. Anything that changes your bone density is not worth taking, I seriously regret putting my body through this. Good luck ladies.
I got the deposit shot in July bleed for a few days then nothing. No period at all in August and now I've been spotting for a week. Its very light, but it stops then starts back.
@Ashleylrw @NewToEverything I wanted to update you girls!!! MY BLEEDING HAS STOPPED!! October of this year, finally, it all came to a close. I decided to get off of the shot July of this year, so it took about 4 months for the horrid substance to effectively exit my blood stream. I feel so awful for all women going through this, and for any woman who is allowing this awful body deteriorating fluid into their systems. I am still today fighting anemia.
When I was in college, I had ONE shot of Depo Provera and I had heavy bleeding for 18 months straight. I went to specialists & was put on hormone and iron injections.
I am now 36 and in full blown menopause. Doctors are now investigating if the two are related.
... I don't care too much for the 2nd shot.. Because I believe it will just prolong onto another lifetime in which I feel is happening right now.. Bleeding since September 2015
Been to the Doctor Talked to the Doctor
Still bleeding... Every time I go to use the restroom I pray that my panty liner is clear

Ive been having my period over two months on having the depo shot. And i cant take it nomore. But its my first shot and i will never put it back on
Im having this same problem how did it turn out for u?
Call your Gyno right away. They will most likely put you on Megestrol. That's what I'm on. You take 2 pills 3 times a day for a week and it's suppose to stop the bleeding. It's been working FABULOUSLY for me. I encourage you call ASAP.
I had the same issue, I
Brittny did that medicine make you sick because everything i try makes me super sick
I have been on depo for 3/4 months and I bled like a period more then once. does that mean the depo didn't work?

Hello Ladies,
My First experienced with the depo shot is after giving birth my second child; since then i've been on my period so in a month i have three times my period in june i was having 8 days of bleeding and rest two days; that changed in August i was bleeding again 8 days and rest 7 days and back on having my period I only took one shot and the last never again it's been so horrible having bleeding this entires months right now im on my period again i hate it I though i was going to be one of those lucky girls that it stop their period during depo but no I been buying a lots of pads and I went to my doctor she told me that it was normal and the side effect of the shot and nothing to worried about and that it will back to normal in a couples of months; to be honest i dont know what to do to make it stop but thats my experience am living :(
P.S.
sorry for my grammar its no that good since english is my second language
Hi there
I was on Depo for around 17/18 yrs, & sometimes had this problem. They found that it could be resolved by bringing my injection forward, so I was getting it at 9 or 10 weeks. After 3 or so earlier shots, I could go back to getting them at 11 or 12 week intervals.
Hope that helps.
I was on Depo for 15 yrs straight. If ur still bleeding something is very wrong, go to ur Gyno ASAP. The Depo shot usually stops women from having a period. U really need to go see ur Dr.
It can do both. Some women have them constantly while on depo, and some don't at all. If its constant it should not be heavy though. I quit getting my shot in January and I still don't have periods even 6 months later. Years ago on depo, I spotted for months. I would call your doc, but don't panic.
Also, steer clear of aspirin, as it thins your blood and can make it worse.
I got on the depo shot on Feb 28th, 2014. I started bleeding the day after i got it, and im still bleeding to this day, heavily even. i only got one shot because it made me so sick i had to go to the emergency room, but the doctor told me i was fine.. its now july 7th, and im still bleeding. i have a doctors apt tomorrow but im not very excited because i know theyre not going to give me an answer.
I just started the DEPO in September 2015 week later started bleeding. Been bleeding every since. Nonstop.. I can't even tell you how much this has taken a token on my life.
I've been to the Doctors on several occasions.. They claim there is nothing wrong.. I've even had them do an ultrasound inside of me. To check for rupture of uterus lining something.. Idk.. Hella frustrated.. Pantry liners have become my best friend sad to say.. I do not plan on going for a second shot.. I just want this to be over..
Is there an ending story?? This is unbelievable.. Never thought I would be going through this.. Smh trying to stay strong and continue on with my daily activities plus I have a 14yr old.. So I have to stay up.. But wth dmh
If any one is reading this I posted before I was on depo and was bleeding for a year and half till now I got a sonogram where they put the camera up your Vigina please and I say please request it you will need to get check for uterine polyps they are most likely the reason I switched from doctor to doctor to figure out and they just scraped it off hopefully this will help
