Plavix is not used for DVT, mostly because of where it works and the other metabolites it interacts with. It is used for the treatment in stroke and acute coronary syndrome. It does in fact prevents platelets from sticking together, but not in the case of DVT. There are several other medications that are used for DVT and are indicated specifically for the treatment of DVT.
Plavix keeps the platelets in your blood from coagulating (clotting) to prevent unwanted blood clots that can occur with certain heart or blood vessel conditions eg DVT
