I started on 20mg duloxetine Jane 21,2021. Doc increase dose to 30mg on feb 12, 2021. Went back to 20mg after a few days due to side effects. Doc said go back on 20mg for one week then stop. Seeing all the issues others are having just stopping I was afraid to do that so instead I have been opening a 20mg capsule, mine have 110 beads in them, and subtracting beads each day, I am currently taking 55 beads which would be a 10mg dose. Can I just stop at this point. Thanks for any help

I had many horrible side effects from Cymbalta. I tapered off by opening the capsules and counting the beads. I was on 60 mg and my average number of beads was 356. I tapered off by 10% (of the previous dose) every two weeks. Sometimes I had to hold so that my body and brain could stabilize. We are all different so your taper might be different from mine. Some people can’t handle the 10% so they try 5%. Personally I wouldn’t stop at 55 beads (10 mg). I had to taper down to the last bead. For me it was certainly worth taking as long as it did so that the withdrawals were minimal and manageable. I never thought I would ever get off Cymbalta but I did it and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
Hi! Opening up time-release capsules can change the absorption rate in your body and may not be the safest or most effective way to do this. In the future, it's best to ask your doctor to prescribe you a course of titration off the medication. It's hard to say whether you're really getting the same effective dose as a 10mg capsule would administer because you're taking it all at once. Take care and feel better!
Hi, Fritz!
I would go every other day for a couple of doses, then every second day, etc. for a week or two.
