My vet prescribed tramadol for my dog. Prescription was to take 1 and 1/2. Since it stated 1/2 pill I figured it was ok to cut them up to put in her food. Now I'm worried because I keep reading that you're not supposed to cut/crush the pills.
Crushing Tramadol?

If the pill was not slow release then it is fine to crush it. Plus if you have already halved it it's fine to crush. Just adding it in her food might not be a good idea. If she doesn't eat all the food she won't have her total dose.
Are there different reactions in animals than people? If not, I would not give my dog that drug! I can't imagine what it would do to an animal to experience what I have getting off that drug!
