I'm curious about crushing terbinafine 250mg tablets. It's not enteric coated from what I've read. And it can be crushed. It seems you shouldn't mix it into anything like apple sauce with a ph lower than 5.0. But, if that's the case, how does the acid environment of the stomach not affect its efficacy? Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hi
"For patients who cannot swallow a pill, a terbinafine tablet can be crushed and mixed with food or a syrup without loss of efficacy. Terbinafine in tablet form has been shown to have relatively unchanged properties after being crushed and mixed in solution, even several weeks after preparation."

Thanks Masso. This is the quote I was referring to, "Lamisil® is a brand of the antifungal terbinafine. This medication treats certain types of fungal or yeast infections. This medication comes as granules that you sprinkle into soft, non-acidic foods before eating."
I don't know if that applies only to the granules, but it seems that if I crush a pill it's become granular. Just don't understand no "non-acidic foods" and then it hit the acidic environment of the stomach?
