Go to ur local walgreens, cvs , etc... and pick up a bottle of medicine called docusate or doculax and take one in mornin and one at nite and that will do you wonders i can't believe your doc didn't write u a big bottle when u got ur meds.
I'd try eating probiotic yogurt (something like Activa or cheap equivalent)? Also, 4 colace at bedtime will help move things so don't have to strain as much, and as other user mentioned, Mirilax is great! (You put a couple TBSP in any beverage of choice&stir, stir, stir until don't see anymore particles&drink up... its so tasteless, I even use it in water!) Also eating prunes and cut breads/starches out of diet as much as possible..
Good luck! (I live with this problem daily, so I literally feel your pain!)
Yeh good advice from all... try to stay away from anything white as in rice, grains etc.try wholemeal breads, pasta, plenty of water, veg and fruit juices aswell.best are ones that are freshly juiced but at the very least without added sugar.also a good multivitamin and some probiotic like inner health plus will keep you gut healthy and keep things going through properly.
Do NOT eat lots of rice, white rice causes constipation. Try Senokot, it's a stool softener, so it won't feel as if you are passing an elephant.
Good luck
It's called Miralax, cheapest at Costco. Can't go wrong. Also, drink lots of water and look up on other foods that cause constipation as well. Hope this helps.
There are as many answers for you as there are members to this site I think. I personally drink alot of water, take fiber, and I take peri colace capsules nightly. There is a mixture that I've seen work wonders, but I haven't tried it myself yet, its equal parts of miller's bran, prune juice and apple sauce, you can mix a container full and put it in the frig and eat some every day. We used to put 2 Tbsp in our patients cereal every morning. What you need is fiber and something to moisten and soften the stool when the constipation is caused by medication.
