I have had to take employment drug screens off and on since 2015. Clonazepam has never shown up on my drug screen results, even taking a dose only a few hours before my screening. I always show up with the prescription bottle in my purse imcase it would show up. It does not show up at all. At one point I was even taking three 1mg a day. Could this be a sign that there is a problem with my metabolism or other issues? Feeling too embarrassed to even ask my own doctor, I had since requested to slowly cut back. To two .05 milligrams per day. I am concerned.
Why is my clonazepam not showing up on my drug screens for pre employment?

I have been having the same issue with clonazepam since I started talking it about 15 years ago.
I checked myself into the ER so I could get inpatient detox. I was shaking so bad they took my urine and found no clonazepam even though I was taking 2mg tid! They knew it was benzo withdrawal but nothing showed up on the tox screen. They ended up giving me 10mg iv valium; 20 minutes later, 10 more mg. 20 minutes later 5mg iv valium. 30 minutes later 2mg iv lorazepam (Ativan).
That finally stopped my shaking.
The nurse made me give more urine so they would find benzos in my system. He said we can't put you in inpatient for benzos when none showed up in my urine.
I read that there is something about the way clonazepam is metabolized. If memory serves, it does not produce active metabolites and the test looks for signs of use by finding the metabolites. I believe that's the gist of it.
Stay lifted,

Short answer they only did a 5 panel drug screen. Benzodiazepines do not show because they are not being tested for. A 10 panel test would need to be done and in most cases they are not due to cost.
I had a urine #10 drug test, while being checked for bladder infection because I was running a fever. My benzodiazepine was negative. I take clonazepam (Klonopin) yet I tested positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine which I've never taken in my life. I am 69, I was shocked! It was because of my diltiazem I take for tachycardia gave a false positive. Many, many people take Klonopin and it doesn't register on a drug test. It's strange, but you have a lot of companies out there right with you and no one seems to have a good answer.
Curious myself
