I only take clonapepam 0.5 mg once in a while is I am having a restless night tingling in my arms and legs and can't sleep. Is it dangerous to take it once a month? I had 60 tables prescribed about 2 years ago and have about 17 left. Is this not good to do?

I took clonazepam on a morning basis for two years at min dosage. There was a particular morning that I forgot to take it and I got really dizzy and was shaking a little bit. I was told that it was because I did not take that pill and it was probably a withdrawal symptom. The idea that kind of frightened me so instead of taking it every morning where my body was so dependent on it I just took it as needed like you are. I find that method much safer but again it is a lot safer to take an anti-anxiety pill like this if your anxiety is so through the roof because your mental state is much safer on this medication then it is without it. This is just my opinion as I am not a medical professional just a patient who has serious anxiety and PTSD with bipolar disorder. I take the Abilify regularly of course. But my situation is not near compared to the catastrophe you have Expressed. My prayers to you.
I also agree with the other comments on taking these pills after the discard date. Just refill the bottle so you're keeping up on your prescription I do the same since I'm taking it as needed now
Not dangerous to take once in a while, I only take mine when I absolutely need it. The pharmacist will say that any medication older than a year is not good anymore. If you are having tingling in your extremeties you may have a circulation problem, ever mentioned this tingling to the doctor?
Do take care,
Laurie
Hi. If you are taking clonzepam once a month I don't think you have anything to worry about. I would ask the pharmacist if they are still good after 2 years but my daughter who is in college gets anxiety and she takes .5 once a day and sometimes she doesn't even take it. Ask your doctor if maybe taking ambiem once in awhile could help but if the clonzepam helps then I don't see a problem with taking it. Do you take any more meds? Hope this helps. TC Laura :)
Every now and then is probably ok but you should keep in the back of your mind to be cautious because they can become addictive.
I would also be cautious about taking tablets that are over 2 years old. You could check with your pharmacist to see if they are ok.
like Suzanne said please check with the pharmacist to be sure that this is safe for you to take, I had something just too far out of date and had to let me doctor know so they could refill it, it's not a good idea to take things after you've had them after the discard date, just want you to be safe!
