You do not know as I have had cipro (damaged my tendons) did not work. Then another one was used, did not work. Had a seven day shot of another one. No as my doctor called me and told me I have to see another doctor for infection disease. Some UTI are hard to get rid of. Take all pills prescribed and hope for the best.having to pee a lot could be cystitis take cranberry pills and something called AZO it is over the counter and you will pee red but that means it is working. Best of luck.
Gammy; Some UTI'S can be very stubborn and many doctors's may try 7 to 10 days of Keflex whatever you do take them until they are all gone, And if you are having problems still call or get into your doctor. good luck. And hope you are also drinking plenty of water or juice.
Yes any of you that read this the class of drugs that Cipro,Levaquin, and others called fluoroquinolone are still being prescribed as a first choice medication and should only be used in extreme case's and as short a period as possible with the new studies. That many of the manufacturers fought tooth and nail about their drug not causing all of these Tendon and bone problems. And many doctors still reach for these as their first choice with UTI and other chronic skin infections. Be very cautious when prescribed this class of medication.
Hey Chuck. I'm sure you remember my experience and my apprehension "after the fact"when I was prescribed fluoroquinolone. (Levaquin). I've heard too many scare stories about torn tendons and bone fractures.
G mc; yes I remember it well and still feel the way I did for you at that time, But from some studies I have been reading it's kind of like the jury is still out dear, And until I can see some solid proof I just want people to be aware of this problem. And really do feel that until we know we must be extra careful. As in your case as long as you are able to take it and not really have as much problem's I am beginning to think this is a lot to do with a person's own chemical or condition of say a hormonal problem and that is why for some it is a life save and other it mess'es them up even more. This class of drug has been used for so many years and until say the last 3 or 4 years they are seeing these problems. So it's better being safe than sorry. Like with you myself I would rather they try a sulfa base or penicillin-type med as the first choice and if that did not help, Then try the Levaquin as a second choice or even 3rd. only if it is needed right now I am saying until they really know what is going on use sparingly.
