I wouldn't say I like taking pharma pills. I also like trying to keep the little energy I have left, as painkillers will make me useless (except maybe help me sleep for once), and I wouldn't say I like that downer feeling except for sleeping. Is there anything for severe pain throughout my body that won't put me in that unconscious state of just existing? I need something that works, as I'm only getting worse. I am a 60-year-old female feeling like I'm a 90-year-old road kill. What causes a person to have so much pain everywhere? With the technology and medicine, you'd think they would find something more natural to help with the pain. I don't want to go through the judging you get from Docs these days. The medical field is a joke, and docs don't care anymore. It's not about the cure. It's about money and drugs. They don't care about the quality of life but more like keeping a heart beat, not health care. It's a primary drug business. Our health doesn't matter much to anyone anymore, and it's only getting worse. I'll live with pain till it gets so bad it kills me one day, I'm sure, and that's not living in my book. Sad!
I have chronic pain for over a year now but I dont like doctors today they all think you want drugs?

You are so right about the medical community today I would like to add something to your question because I had the very same feelings and issues my pain doctor + 3 are no longer able to practice I was on 60mg oxycontin 3 times daily in addition 15 mg oxycodone 4 times daily incredible now that I look back on it I started weaning myself off but when I was almost completely off I was still having issues and was fortunate enough to find a Dr that was trained in the use and treated with the use of Suboxone and the various versions of this medication he had specialty training in it he knew I was in complete withdrawal and was able to give me a medication that stopped all the unpleasant remaining side effects then when that was under control he put me on buprenorphine with naloxone I did not want the version of this medicine that contained naloxone so he agreed to put me on straight buprenorphine and it has taken care of my pain without being in a numb state I was so bad my wife died and I didn't even realize it or the concequencinous of her death all the opioids had me this way I am now on a low dose of buprenorphine and feel alive alert etc I had also discovered another issue being on these high doses of opioids as well as the buprenorphine anesthesiologist don't know how to handle your if you need surgery bad deal but I would suggest you investigate Dr in your area trained in buprenorphine and how to help patients get off all this other stuff you hopefully will get the pain relief you need without being in a cloud
I hear you, with your story being all too familiar; the entire health care system appears to have lost its fundamental direction; however, even though totally discouraged, like you, there are Doctors out there that that have sincerely dedicated their lives to helping their patients! Unfortunately, due to the past decade-plus of non-medical related factors: "Addictions, and illicit opioid death factors", "COVID-19", "the government (i.e., CDC and FDA), "Insurance companies", "Medicare and Medicaid", etc., all dictating what Doctors' can and cannot do, thus many Doctors now feel that in order to stay in the profession, that they must drop a degree of their ethics that motivated them to join the profession, and just accept it, and attempt to work through the chaos the best that they can! I know that it doesn't help you and I, but when these huge conglomerates, who control all the funding, take over, they win! Until us Chronic Pain Patients join together with our own voice of power (Re: Form our own "Political Action Committees"), thus having a combined entity that's equally as powerful, then unfortunately, I see little change for us!
On a more personal level, it is easy to see why, unfortunately, many chronic pain patients have had no resolve but to turn to "Street Drugs", and, or even worse - take their lives by "suicide!" Fortunately, I still, at present, have my head on straight, and know that neither of those two options is the answer, with those only compounding my problems, let alone knowing how that would cause great despair for loved one and family members, certainly not wanting to complicate their world which in this age is already a struggle! I believe that their are medications that can help you - through trial and error with the right physician/team, although it won't happen overnight! I had a catastrophic Crushing Injury back in 1989, lived through the Quasi-Oxycontin travesty, and eventually, with the help of a team of dedicated medical professionals, found a medication that gave me back my life (i.e., no euphoria, no need for Break-trough pain medications, and a positive outlook for my future)! However, due to the "illicit opioid crisis", and the new guidelines, that's gone, and I'm once again back at square one! I, as I can hear in your story, have a threefold dilemma: The daily pain issues, and equally important, losing your confidence in ever finding a positive resolve, and thinking, is this it - the the way the last chapter of my life will end!
My apologies for not having any quick and helpful resolve for you; however, I can certainly appreciate your situation, and feel for you deeply!
Sincerely, and I pray that you find a positive resolve.
Hi, Everyone well I'm now on 30 mg Er, morphine every 12 hrs, and have oxycodone 10mg for when I over do it (break thru pain) I have 14 surgeries 8 lumbar with a 5-level anterior/ posterior fusion./ and. 4 cervical surgeries with a 6-level cervical corpectomy fusion anterior/ posterior. Plus a few more. So my pain doctor is a great doctor! And he gives me cervical ambulations in both sides of my c-2-3. It really helps. All of you guys out there strive to find a great pain management doctor. They are out there. All of us with chronic pain want to do is be as pain-free as we can!!! God bless all my chronic pain brothers and sisters.
You certainly articulated a real problem and issue everything you said I have experienced especially doctors not caring about you and providing the care needed I got stuck with 3 different pain clinics (all have been shut down) that had me on 300 mg oxycontin daily I was a mess but fortunately had the sense to wean myself off and at the end point of my weaning I had allot of physical issues found a doctor that was trained in buprenorphine administration and other meds to help me complete the withdrawal process I am now on a very low dose of buprenorphine for the pain but certainly didn't need all that oxycontin and oxycodone now what is so amazingly crazy with the opioid crisis and buprenorphine is a good substitute for the strong opioids our smart State legislators that think they have license to practice medicine have decided to enact legislation that will make it more difficult for doctors to prescribe these great alternatives as well as make patients jump thru hoops to get ...
there prescriptions to me this is so surreal and just plain wrong now that there is help available for people using opioids and a safe alternative they are clamping down and making the process harder this is happening now in the state of Alabama. INCREDIBLE
