I have horrible stomach and esophagus pain when I swallow water or food since taking this drug. Similar to labor pains, it comes every 12-20 minutes when standing or sitting. Relief when lying on my side. My er doctor prescribed this drug for bronchitis and a migraine infection. 100mg 2x daily.
I just did a stomach ultrasound/full blood panel. Normal. My regular doc. thinks this drug caused a small ulcer. Is this common?
Can the drug doxycycline cause a ulcer in stomach/esophagus?

Yes, and very painful swallowing or stomach pains.
I see that everyone is suffering from the same symptoms of ulcers (I had one last year). As it seems staying upright for 2 hrs and drinking a lot of water is suggested, have people gone back to doxy? I very much do not want another ulcer but I need to take the medication for acne
I was recently on a course of doxycycline after I got a tick bite (10 days as a precautionary measure in case of lyme disease). On around day 7 of the 10 day course I took one of the pills with water and soon after went to sleep. When I woke on day 8, I had a discomfort swallowing, which turned into full on oesophageal pain over the next few days. I went back to the doctor 3 days later after no sign of improvement, and he prescribed a course of Omeprazole to reduce stomach acids and encourage healing.
Thankfully after around 4 days I started to feel better and was able to eat again.
Oesophageal burns are quite common with doxy apparently.
A few nights ago I was going to bed and remembered I had not taken my doxy I was prescribed for my healing spider bite. I had just a little bit of water in my cup, but figured it was enough to get it down, which it was. I was awakened by the worst heartburn/ reflux pain I had ever had. I went and took some Mylanta and tried to lay back down, but the burning was really bad. I went out on my couch and propped up on multiple pillows. That was three days ago now. I am still taking antacids and drinking and eating food still hurts when I swallow. It is getting better though. I will never make that mistake again!!!
Glad I have found this thread. I made the same mistake on Monday night & by Thursday I was in agony. My GP has given me omoperazole. It's now Sunday, still only eating soft good - still v painful & medication giving me hideous headache. How long will this last??? What else can I do?? Thank you
My son, who is 13 years old, is taking this medication for 30 days to treat a staph infection he had on his earlobe (crazy, I know). IT was prescribed by a dermatologist. After two and a half weeks without ANY incidents, he is complaining of terrible pains in his chest. He takes the Doxycycline at night before bed, as doctor instructed. It seems like every twenty minutes he's in severe pain. We figured that he probably had a Doxycycline pill lodged in his esophagus that caused irritation. (We did not know it could be this terrible) Sadly, I think it IS an esophegal ulcer after reading all of these posts; but I am truly grateful to have found this thread. This is a bummer. I hope it doesn't take 8 weeks to heal. If anyone has over the counter advice, please share. I am very nervous about this.
Hello,
I have been taking doxycycline for around two years for acne. I take it before bed and on Monday night I woke up with severe pain in my chest. I took Pepcid and it seemed to subside, but the next day it reoccurred. And four days later there has been no relief for me. It is Friday afternoon and I am home from work because the pain was so bad. This is my second day of taking the medication tecta to heal this Chest pain and I have discontinued use of doxycyline. Can someone please tell me when these chest pains will end or at least subside?
Did you go to the doctor and did they scope you? It happened to me about 9 months ago. I waited over a week to go to the Dr because I thought it would get better. It didn't. They scoped me, gave me liquid pain meds, something to coat my espohagus and anti-acids. Once I was on the regiment, it was only a day or so before I stopped needing the pain meds. I obviously stayed the course with the pink throat coating meds and anti-acids for another 2 weeks or so. It sucks, but mine was so severe that 1 of the "sores" had burned through 70% of my esophagus lining. It only gets worse as the time goes on because your stomach acid is irritating it more! It sucks and I hate going to the doctor, but it really did improve 100x over within the first day of going to the endocrinologist. Good luck!!
I went to the doctor twice. On Tuesday the doctor said to keep taking Pepcid. I went back yesturday and the doctor prescribed me tacta, but the pain is still so strong today. So thus far I have only taken one tacta pill and will take another one tonight. Do you think I should wait another day or so before seeing my family doctor?
I also had this. Was on doxy as an anti-malarial. Always tried to take it on a full stomach as it made me nauseous. But one night as I crawled into bed I realised I hadn't taken my pill; downed it on an empty stomach. Big mistake. About a week later developed the most terrible pain upon swallowing. Even a sip of water was agony. Like swallowing daggers. Didn't eat for days, just sipped almond milk when I could handle it. My doc though it was gastritis! Lol. No endoscopy for me. The ppi's helped though. Cleared up on its own after about a week or a bit more. No other action or tests needed.
I was also on Doxy for 5 days the 6th day i woke up with difficulty swollowing and really bad chest pains. I went to urgent care that Saturday and after an EKG she determined I was having a side affect for the Doxy that it irritated my esophogus and stomach. i am now on day 3 of an antibiotic that the doc put me on to make this go away. I am in fear that this may be preminant (?) Does anyone know how long this may take to completely go away with the antibiotic? Also, I aquired ear pain similar to an ear infection the second day is that normal?

For eye irritation and red eyes, doctor suggested some massage to eyes every day and also prescribed doxy (antibiotic-doxycycline) medicine for couple of weeks.
I started taking these Doxy tables 2 per day, first day i didn't face any problem, but the very next day after lunch i took the tablet and had little water and then go to bed.. after waking up in the evening time chest paint started.. the paint continuing when i swallow water or eat anything. I immediately stopped taking Doxy.
Not sure is this because of this Doxy medicine or what.. not I'm planning to visit a doctor.
I have been taking it for about two years now and about 8 months ago I had pain as if there was a hand in my chest pulling my sternum towards a blowtorch further in my chest and when I would eat food I could feel it go down and it would make it hard to breathe I cauld barely go through the day. I looked online and found out it was the fact that I didn't drink anything ever when taking doxy and I decided to stop till the symptoms passed and about a week later it stopped but it still happens when I don't drink anything with it.
Its called Doxycycline-induced esophageal ulcer. Its not common. I have been taking Doxy for many years for acne without any complication. Then one night I took a single pill, drank half a glass of water, and went to bed. I woke up with mild heartburn. A few days later, I was in immense pain. I felt burning up and down my whole chest. I was bloated, gassy, and couldnt burp. The pain was so severe, it caused me have a migrane. The pill dissolved in my esophagus, and caused an ulcer. It was my fault for not drinking a full glass of water, and going straight to bed. Im in treatment now, and am scheduled for an esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Im feeling a little better already after the first day of treatment, but ulcers take 4-8 weeks to heal. Good Luck.
Eugeneparis...
I have the same issue. On day 8 of my 10 day prescription, I started with chest pains. It was next to impossible to swallow, drink, or eat. I couldn't do it due to the pain as if someone was twisting a knife in my chest. I took "Carafate" which alleviated all the pain.. However, after 2 weeks with no pain, the pain started again. I'm now on my 2nd prescription of Carafate but am scheduled next week for an EGD to scope my esophagus. The original date of symptons started April 2nd. It's now May 18th.. How long did your pain last ? Is everything back to normal now ? Thanks for any response.
ron2011, the Doxy didnt persay cause the Ulcer, but moreso the fact that it dissolved in my esophagus from not drinking enough water, laying down horizontally - so gravity couldnt help the pill go down, and then not salivating during sleep, to wash down any acidic or harmful chemicals down. so what happened was the pill never passed my lower esopageal sphincter which is formed by a combination of specially adapted smooth muscle and the mechanical "pinching" effect of the diaphragm on the esophagus. since the pill didnt pass, it disolved where the pinching occurs creating something like a kissing ulcer, so basically two ulcers rubbing against eachother, opening and closing, repeatidly. needless to say, swallowing and eating were painful since thats when the esopagus is most active. do you have a similiar experience? i had taken Doxy on and off for over ten years and only experienced this once.
the migraines were a side effect of the ulcer medication, so a few days later during my checkup the doctor gave me a different medication. as far as how long it took to get better, well i would say maybe a week in all, but it was the most excruciating pain i have ever felt in my lifetime. after taking the new medication, the pain had subsided the next day. the medication was to heal ulcers and to reduce acid activity in my stomach. your best bet is make sure you are eating the right foods during treatment. you may have real bad ulcers and/or really bad acid reflux. you really need to reduce the acid activity in your stomach during treatment. as far as your symptoms stopping then returning, how are you taking your medication - or are you not taking Doxy anymore? To answer your question, after treatment the pain almost immediately subsided, and after that i ate what i normally do and didnt notice anything during the healing time of 4 to 8 weeks. im fully recovered and there was no scarring.
Thank you for the response.. You are correct that I too took the Doxy right before going to bed for probably 2 nights with very little water. It never mentioned on the bottle not to take prior to bed. :( I had the pain so severe that I could not eat hardly at all because the pain was not worth it. Sounds like you were pretty lucky that the pain subsided relatively quickly. My pain started on a Saturday, and starting Sunday could not really eat or drink anything. I started the Carafate meds on that Thursday, and was finally able to eat the following Monday with minimal pain. After 14 days of the Carafate, I felt that I was healed with NO pain at all. However, 10-14 days later it kicked back in. I go next week for the EGD. He said it could possibly be the "pill ulcer" or the fungus bacteria. However, he said typically your healed in 3 weeks. Originally I felt I was, but since it kicked back in, I'm not sure what is going on. Again, thanks for your response.
I was thinking originally that you meant you had the pain for 4-8 weeks, and if so, then I figured maybe that was why it was still hurting my chest as well, that it just takes time to heal.. I'm just hoping it's nothing too bad that time won't heal it.
sorry for your pain. there may in fact be a warning on the bottle to take the medication with a full glass of water. not sure. if you took tylonel, aspirin, or any other medication, the same thing would happen if you let it sit in your esophagus. after taking the medication for the ulcer, the pain should start subsiding pretty quickly- in a day or so. but if i remember correctly, i think i ate like a baby for a while after, eating farina and drinking only water (no soda, juice, or anything acidic). as far as the esophagogastroduodenoscopy is concerned, the doctor will look to see if they are surface or deep ulcers and whether or not he sees scarring. when i got mine done i had many many small ulcers, but they were not deep.
Thank you again for taking time to respond. You are correct where the bottle did say to take with a full glass of water, it was my stupidity that I did not. The first 7-8 days I took around 8pm, so i think I drank enough. It was only the 2 other days that I took prior to bed without enough water. I just hope this doesn't cause any "long term" affects. In other words, I hope that everything heals and I can get over this soon. I don't know much about how well the esophagus heals, and I hope I don't have to take Prilosec or anything like that for life. I've never ever had heartburn or chest issues like this in my life, but just my luck. :)
On this second time around, I'm able to eat fine. However, it's that almost constant burn that is bothersome now. Ironically it don't hurt while sleeping, just after waking up. I have been sleeping with a couple pillows under the mattress in the hopes that helps some too. Again, thanks for your response. I'm crossing my fingers that maybe the ulcer (assuming it's that) is stubborn and taking the 8 weeks to heal.
no problem with taking the time out and i really dont mind giving you my experience as it was one of the most dreadful things that ever happened to me. im glad to help. just to make you feel better, i 99.9% believe that you will be fine and have no long term problems. i dont think the Doxy can have done that much damage and it definitely would not cause you to have permanent heartburn. Some people actually have permanent heartburn, but i think thats more genetic or chemical imbalance. ive had heartburn like 2-3 times overal in my life. im in my thirties. try to get the EGD as soon as possible to ease your worries. but i think you will be fine. make sure you get a medication for ulcers and acid reduction. i think i only took one med for both. and definitely watch your diet for the next few weeks. basically, only drink water and eat soft bland foods.
Thanks again. I'm scheduled for next Tues for the EGD. I met with the doctor this past Tues. He didn't say much other than it could be the fungus or possibly the "pill ulcer". He wasn't for sure. He said it could be something else, but until he scoped it, he wouldn't know for sure. The only thing that scared me was that the pain re-occurred after almost 2 weeks of NO pain. My gut instinct is that it's related, and I hope it is. :) But, hoping it's fixable and fixable relatively quick. Thanks again.
I have the exact symptoms you have described. What tx. are you receiving exactly? Been in pain for 6 days & cant eat or drink which makes me nauseated & develop a migraine. They gave me Lidocaine/Mylanta & Tylenol with Codeine. Not much help & makes me more nauseated. Took Doxycycline 2 months, cleared my acne then woke with the chest pains. I also took before bed. Why in the world would the Derm not mention that this could happen? GI Dr. said 2 wks should feel better. He said he sees many women who feel like they're having a heart attack due to the extreme chest pain that's actually due to this sticky capsule that I should have taken in the morn with lot's of water.
Well, many medications can result in the same complication, not just doxy. Medications in general are harsh on our internal organs, such as the esophagus, liver, and kidneys. On the pill bottle, it will say drink with a full glass of water, and most likely will say take with food, or do not take before bedtime. Its just a common mistake to make. If you cant make an appointment to see a Gastroenterologist, then go see your family doctor and ask if they can prescribe to you ulcer medication and acid reducer (thats if in fact they determine that you do in fact have an ulcer). But, once you start the medication, you will feel relief fairly quickly. Just a note though, the first medication I got gave me migraines, so I had to take something else, but when I did, I almost immediately felt better.
Yes, I only took doxycycline for 10 days. But on the 9th day I took it right before going to sleep with a large sip of water, which probably wasn't enough. I woke up in the night with what felt like extreme heartburn. I felt a burning sensation every few minutes where it feels like my esophagus and stomach meet. I felt it all the next day too, but not as horrible. Then for the next 4-5 days it seemed to get a little bit better because it wouldn't constantly hurt. Only when I would drink something. I only drink water and tea (no soda). Then after those days it would still hurt when I drank but only a little but. BUT I started to get a stomach ache. Almost just a like a small dull pain in my stomach(not esophagus), but all the time, and it was really uncomfortable to be full after a meal. That went on for almost 2 days and now the esophagus seems all better but I can't even eat without my stomach hurting really really bad.
Tried to drink some pure aloe and it seems better
My questions are... Is this an Ulcer?? If so, is it in my stomach or esophagus or both? Will it go away on it's own? Do I have to go to a doctor? (i really don't want to, I've been sooo much in the last 30 days) Is aloe good for it?
The same thing happen to me I have been on Carafate since 4-12 I feel better but it still hurts to eat. Does any rememeber home long it took to be able to eat?
I took Doxy as part of a 6 month deployment to Afghanistan. At month 3 my stomach pain was unbearable so I saw the doctor who said doxy has been known to eat away at the lining of the stomach. All my symptoms pointed toward an ulcer but they did not have the barium test or esophageal techniques to check. The doctor took me off of doxy and put me on 40mg of an antacid. It seemed to work for a few weeks then the symptoms returned even with a healthy diet. I was better for a few more weeks and then pain/nausea/bloating returned again. It has been up and down ever since. Alcohol/caffeine/spicy foods trigger the pain instantly. The antacid I'm on causes wrist and knee pain.
OMG I am soooo happy I found this! I had been on this drug for cystic acne and had taken at bedtime with a few sips of water. I woke mid night with intense burn took Prilosec and within 20 hours the burn was gone but for 6 days now I have dull pain behind breastbone and at bottom of throat and everytime I eat or drink and swallow I brace myself for the pain to follow. My Docotor is treating me for GERD but I don't think that's it. I fall more inline with these symptoms! Not that I'm happy but I am happy I found it!! I saw some people taking Carafate drugs for this... whats that?
Literally, the EXACT same thing is happening to me. I am wondering what the treatment is and if I should see a doctor. I called me Derm and left a message with his office. Thanks!
yep. i did the same thing. Deployed here, not sure if i should see a Doctor or will it go away after some time? it's been two days for me and the pain is still the same. Any suggestions or remedies? Thanks,
I, too, took (Doxy) Hyclate before bed w/ minimal water only to wake up w/ the burning in the esophagus for the rest of the night w/ terrible pains upon eating or drinking (now 3 days later). I didn't know you couldn't lie down for 20 minutes after taking it. I did drink water every 30 minutes that night which I believe made it not as bad as others in this blog. But I'm being patient and avoiding acidic food. I did call the Dr. office asking the nurse for any help- and she didn't have any solutions.
My only concern is that I stopped taking the meds(after 18/21 days) and now will check w/ doctor to see if I should resume or stop.
Thanks for your help, eugeneparis! This site was so informative for me!
I have had this same reaction BUT with one main difference than all the other responses I have read: I took my pill WITH LOTS of water and never before bed, never lying down after...
BUT... I do have a Hiatal Hernia which I see now that I should have mentioned to dr. before taking this doxy! I forgot I had hernia since I haven't had symptoms ni so long.
So, it seams that this drug causes this burning problem all on its own for people that are compromised some how.
When I took my last pill it felt like it exploded in my throat and the water and pill would not go down. This was on an empty stomach. I have now read many places that if you take doxy long term you should always take WITH food. too bad my dr didn't tell me this!!!
I hope I can repair myself!
Hi Eugene! I am so happy that I viewed your feedback! Your symptoms are IDENTICAL to mine. I started taking Doxy about 2 weeks ago for acne and, I too, took the medication one evening and went straight to sleep and believe that the pill dissolved in my esophagus. The next morning I woke up and had, what I thought, was mild heart burn, (which I have never experienced before, so I thought that was a little odd). Anyway, the next day I woke and the pain was almost all gone. I proceeded to take Doxy for my acne and all was well. 3 days after the "heart burn" incident occurred, I woke up in the middle of the night with immense pain, I mean, it was so bad I wanted to vomit. My esophagus/chest was on fire, I couldn't even swallow my own spit. I wanted to burp badly but couldn't. Today is day 4 of the persistent pain. I can drink water tolerably, however, eating is not an option. I have gone to Urgent Care, the ER, and they both referred me to a GI.
I will be going to see him for an office visit tomorrow, and I imagine he will want to do a scope. I will let you know what he diagnoses. Thanks again for your post! Now I know that I'm not dying, lol :)
Exact same thing happened to me Wednesday. I woke up and it hurt when water or food would go from my esophogus into my stomach. Yesterday was the worst, so Ive been on clear fluids. Gastro doctor is doing a scope down my throat on Monday. I have NO doubt that the Doxy gave me an ulcer. I never knew how corrosive it is. Carafate does help to coat and soothe. Wishing all of you to be pain free very soon. <3
This also just happened to me last weekend. I did drink a whole glass of water but went to sleep after and had an empty stomach. I am also taking for cystic acne.
It tells u to take it on an empty stomach and during the day it make me nauseous so I prefer night. My GP doctor now says have a little food with it- but I'm not sure I'll go back on it.
I was prescribed nexium- my gp said 1 per day but the gastroenterologist increased to 2/ day. Also got the lidocaine to take before eating (helps a little) and taking Tylenol. But have been in terrible pain all week! Drinking water hurts. My dermatologist did not warn me either. Part of me glad I'm not alone and other part wishes I saw this prior to taking doxycycline. Chalk it up to learning experience
I also just experienced this last night after taking a dose and laying down. I'm now sick all day and can't even keep saltine crackers down. I'm very worried about how long this will last. Please tell me if there is anything I can do to help it. Also, how long has it been lasting?
i took doxy since 4 nov 2013 to cure my acne, behind my back body. However, on Saturday 30 nov 2013, i took doxy with just a sip of water. after a few hours, i feel like something is burning on my eso, feel like nausea. then today which is monday,i woke up in the morning and started to feel the pain whenever i drinking or eating. it really hurts and feel like someone is twisting my eso. what should i do? should i consult a doctor?
Oh my goodness I just went through the whole ordeal with a doxycycline-induced esophageal ulcer and just wanted to post what I have learned after 2 hospital visits and at least 10 medications.
I took a single 100mg doxy pill on a Friday night right before bed, with what I now know to be not enough water. I woke up in the night with heartburn but took antacid and tried not to worry about it. The heartburn got gradually worse every day and by Tuesday I could hardly swallow water or my own saliva. The pain was a stabbing pain behind my sternum that would come and go, sometimes lasting for hours at a time, and a burning in the throat and into my ear canals. I also had muscle aches and pains, especially in the jaw. On Weds afternoon I was in so much pain and beginning to get so dehydrated (despite trying to force myself to swallow water) that I went to the emergency room. They initially gave me several antacids and Malox with no relief.
After a huge ordeal I was able to get an endoscopy, which showed ulcers of about 4cm in length on both sides of my lower esophagus, caused by the dissolving pill. These ulcers were rubbing together, even when I wasn't eating, causing terrible twisting spasms. Well, I was hugely relieved to have a diagnosis confirmed but still in terrible and unrelenting pain. Since then, I have been taking a Proton pump inhibitor (Protonix) and Carafate (which is a miracle serum providing some immediate relief!), as well as some pain killers (which honestly don't stop the pain but at least make you more willing to tolerate it). The major lesson I learned was to keep advocating for myself to get the necessary tests. Initially I was told it was gastritis, but I knew that this didn't seem right given the sudden onset, my lack of history of any GI problems, and the extreme pain.
I have learned a few things that help the pain as well. Tylenol helps a bit! Don't take anti-inflamtories or aspirin. One thing I realized is that while it is excruciating to eat, the pain lets up a bit after there is food in my stomach for a few hours. It is worth the pain of trying to swallow to eventually get some relief. My pain was the worst when I had gone a full day without eating. I also got some mild comfort from putting an ice pack on my sternum. A warm pack did not feel good. I have experimented with which foods are the most tolerable, and here is what I learned:
BEST TO EAT/DRINK:
Anything lukewarm! Including lukewarm water
Matzo ball soup or chicken noodle soup
Watery lukewarm oatmeal
Watery lukewarm mashed potatoes
Saltine crackers (chewed excessively, and with a sip of water)
DO NOT EAT/DRINK:
Gatorade (every flavor contains citric acid, which burns terribly)
Tea of any kind (and of course coffee)
Ice cream and milkshakes (the cold is very painful, despite Drs. recommending this)
Anything very sugary
Anything with a spice, including cinnamon, mustard, pepper, etc.
Anything carbonated
The good news is that I got the diagnosis and treatment 7 days after the pain started, and within 2 days I have had considerable relief and have been able to stop all meds except tylenol. I can tell that I am starting to heal, though I'm still on the restricted diet. But, that was the worst pain I've ever experienced! I'm not sure I will ever take doxy again. Good luck to everyone dealing with this horrible pain.
My Nana who is 104 years with minimal health issues was prescribed Doxy for a UTI. Day 4 she vomited I thought perhaps she needed to take it with food so Day 5 I gave food she vomited again. This was November 24th & 25th we discontinued from that point on she started eating less and less. Not saying a word (she never complains) through Thanksgiving we had all her favs ate very little. In December still eating very little but when up in her chair she holds her abdomen, dry heaves at times and says "it hurts it hurts" almost always within an hour or two after meals. She feels more comfortable in bed sitting upright. She takes Prilosec 40mg, Her labs all came back normal. I suspect this is what is going on with her. Naturally they will never scope her at her age. I just don't know what to give her for relief??? She voices shes hungry yet eats very little when you give her food.
She says "I am afraid that pain will come back" She does not take any meds that appear to be aggravating to her gi tract and nothing else has changed. Thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank goodness I found these posts. After 2 weeks on Doxy, my stomach pains were through the roof. I had very sharp pains and felt like I needed to burp but could not. I tried antacids and even baking soda. The only thing that eased the pain was Apple Cider Vinegar (Bragg's). So I quit taking it for a few days. As soon as I took it again today, the pain started right back. Guess I need to call my doctor back.
hi frnds i too have severe middle back and upper back pain and middle back pain when swallong ,shoulder stiffness, back pain when liquids swalloing,i had thorasic spine mri, cervical spine mri, chest ct scan but all reports are normal,i had endoscopy but docter told have a small ulceration he gave me nexpro tablet for 15 days but i have severe back pain from one year pls frnds help me what it is
just the other day i suffered from a burning sensation on my throat, chest and abdomen. i'm on doxy for 8 days. and the last time i took this meds i sleep. then when i woke up this thing happens. i went to ER and they were treating me as GERD. I told the ER Dr. that im on doxy and he told me it doesnt cause this reaction. which im very thankful i found this site. today is the 3rd day and it pains like hell everytime i will swallow. even sips of liquid it gives me so much pain. im taking motilium, ranitidine and rennie.. all meds for tx of heartburn and GERD. Please help... do i have to see another doctor? will this pain just go? how long will it last? thanks so much...
I am having same issues after taking doxycycline.. I already knew I had pepcid ulcers in my stomach and I let the doctor know that before I took it.. so I already have taken carafate medication for almost a year and not able to drink or eat before going to bed ( in will cause me to be up all night with pain ) :( even water.. after 5 days of taking this doxycycline I started to get a burning, stabbing pain in my stomach... ( felt like I was eating pieces of broken glass when it hit my stomach ) when to my family doctor and I am not scheduled to get a stomach scope done.. my doctor said that since I already have stomach ulcers I could possibly have bleeding ulcers... doctors need to pay attention to their patients better when someone tells them for a chart.. so will find out in one week what it has caused..
If I am correct doxycycline is an antibioctic(sp). If it is it can cause dis-comfort in your stomach if you do not take it with food etc. Call your doctor or pharmacy and they will give you all the info you need. Best to ya... Kim
