or is the Dilaudid stronger? The reason I am asking is because I need to come off of the Tylenoyl. Also, Is Dilaudid more expensive than the 10mg
Percocets (90)? The other reason I am asking is because I will meet my Medicare Gap in August, so I must try to do something! My Percs cost $140.99 a month so that will be something for you to work with if possible? Sorry this had to be so long, but I REALLY need to know! Thank you! How Long! Where you at Christine? Can you help me with this!
Can someone tell me if a 2mg Dilaudid is about equal to a 10mg Percocet?

I think it is but I’m not sure. That’s why I’m asking this question… is a 2mg dilaudid more effective than a 10 mg of oxycodone?? If so, why??
I feel so bad for you guys in the States. Honestly, Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is pretty inexpensive in Canada. It works great for battling my chronic pain!
I have chronic back pain. Top to bottom. I have tried many different meds (legally) ..I don't check here very much so email me. Only if you're serious. I do not alter my meds and only take what's mine. However. I may be able to help. Good luck. Chris
What do you use for pain meds I've took Tylenol 1,2,3's and gabapintin 300,600mgs and now I'm trying dilauda 2mg.
Wal mart dilaudid 125.00 know what you mean i am also a diabetic due to chrons attacking pancreas. Will hit gap this year mysef.
dilaudid is stronger than morphine. So i imagine it is stronger than percocet. You need to talk to your doctor and ask him about meds why change, and side effects. I write down questions before ging and if i hurt to much to think or just get distracted by other problems or am embaarassed to ask i can hand the doc the paper and my questions get answered. Good luck.
I have pancreatitis , it really fricking pain full, You can't even drink water , Now when I have to go to the hospital," just to give you an ideal how bad it hurt" the first thing they want to give me is morphine .Its dose not do anything to subside the pain next step 1 mg to 2 mg of dilaudid . in really bad cases maybe 3 but if that happends take the pain DILAUDID IS NOT A DRUG TO SWITCH TO ,TO HELP WITHDRAWS OR TO LOWER YOUR MED BILL!!! Stay away for it if you can.If your tring to come off Tylenoyl with codine or what ever you going to have a much bigger problem.I might sound like I'm preaching., But if your going to switch to that cause you think it will help .Sorry you dont want to find out how wrong you are .Don't do it , unless you in a hospital where you can be monitored . Last note Percs 140.00 ? yeha the BIG D , You might want to try like 3 0r 400.00 maybe more
I feel your pain!! I have been living with pancreatitis for many years and you are so right about the severity of pain. When it requires a trip to the hospital
the best relief i have found is a mixture of Demerol and fenergan (sp).
Some hospitals have gotten away from Demerol and have provided either morphine or dilaudid. Both have worked for me in the right doses. The morphine has had limited effects at times also without the right amount.
Hi, it's my first time here.I know this is old but I also have Chronic pancreatic is since 2010 that I know of. I have stage 4 liver disease all due from alcohol. I no longer drink, but prescribed 2mg. Of Dilau did 2x per day, used to be 4, but that was after a month in hospital and being kicked out during to insurance unable to walk and on oxygen. I've been on dilau did for over a year and a half and it no longer works for me at all! I have pancreas stones and the head of my pancreas is blocked. I've gone to the hospital 2x for an ERCP and both times they couldn't get the wire through let alone get a Stent in there or remove stones. I was admitted into the hospital both times even though it was supposed to be a 90 minute outpatient procedure. My pain was crazy! I really don't think some people understand how PAINFUL pancreatic is is. My primary care dr.
Doesn't feel comfortable prescribing me anything else, he didn't even want to give me dilau did ( only reason he did is because my home nurse called him and asked why I wasn't on it because my hospital release papers said I needed to be). I don't know what else is stronger or what will work! I don't even know what the next step is to clear and open my head of my pancreas because surgery is way too dangerous with the poison and my liver etc.! I have acute pancreatic is all the time and just don't eat and lay in bed with a heating pad and cry and pray! I've taken 8mg. At one time and still no relief, in hospital they were giving me 3mg. Dilau did through IV and it was still painful. Does anyone know of anything else stronger or something. I know I'm basically immune to dilau did now. I'm thinking of asking for a referral to a chronic pain specialist, but I don't want these dr.'s thinking I'm just looking for pain meds. A lot of people don't really believe my health issues due to me being 39. It's all there in the charts though and the dr."'s all know how sick I am. I can't even get disability, I've been denied 3x n it's been over a year and will take at least 17 months before a hearing with absolutely no income and a single mom who never received child support from my ex husband eother! I'm in pain and brooke. Any suggestions on pain meds will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!
Hi there! I commented on your post. If you need to replace the percocets, what I would do is go Needymeds.org. You can print out the coupon and use it right away for up to 75% off the price of your meds. By law, this coupon can also be used with Medicare. You can also contact the pharmaceutical company (who manufactures dilaudid) directly and ask if they have a program for people needing assistance with their meds. Some companies will even give them to you free of charge. When I needed help, the phone number that comes with the info from Needymeds, investigated for me. They even sent me a list of comparable meds that I could get for free if I qualified. I needed help with the MS Contin and they sent me a list of meds that companies would give for free or with a ONE time $25.00 fee. Some meds on the list were oxycodone, opana, fentanyl, etc. As far as dilaudid, I'm not sure if it's comparable to oxycodone. It's really the individuals reactions to the different meds.
What works for me, may not work for you. Personally, I think the 10mg oxy is better than 2mg dilaudid. Are you able to take aspirin? If you can, you could request Percodan instead of Percocet. And lastly, yes, the dilaudid is more expensive. You can also shop around at different pharmacies. They have to compete with each other. The prices can vary greatly between the different chains. They also have special in-store offers and discounts for switching your scripts to their pharmacy. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it's worth looking in to.
So how have you been feeling? I've missed your input here on so many questions. Keep in touch and please let me know how it all works out for you my friend!
My best wishes,
Chris
Christine, I commented back to you also. I will tell you, I have missed alot on here but I have been battling withdraws and such that I can't focus and can't sit very long as well as stand. You know what I mean when someone has to go through withdraws! I can't wait to see my Dr.
OK, I called my Pharmacy and Dilaudid is more expensive than Percocets! I am trying to replace the percs with something else before I go back to see my Dr. That is the reason I am trying to find out about a cheaper drug. The Pharmacists did tell me that she would get a print out for me of all the retail prices of the narcotics so that I can take them to my Dr. and discuss them with her. So we will see how that goes!
I have missed you all and am Very Thankful that I have friends like you!;).
Christine, I want to Thank you for everything you have done for me and for being there when I need HELP! You are a VERY GOOD FRIEND that I really enjoy talking to and Trust! I Hope you get a good nights rest as I am also going to TRY and sleep! Good Night and I will talk to you tomorrow!
Thanks so much how long. I hope all goes well with your doctor's appointment. As a reminder, start writing down any questions and concerns now, so you have your answers when you leave. Don't feel rushed and remember, she is working for YOU. I'm very fortunate to have a caring surgeon. He always has a waiting room FULL of patients yet still takes the time to answer all my concerns. Hope you have a compassionate doctor too! I've really missed your "face" Grrrrrr. Have you been following any advice from here for your withdrawal symptoms?
"Have you been following any advice from here for your withdrawal symptoms?"
Not really, I just deal with it and go on. I am really strong headed though and look at it as a goal to overcome and think to myself, at least I am not going to die, though sometimes it sure feels like I'm going to. (After all, what could be worse?) Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it!
Hi I was inquiring about the same question except I was on 30mg. Oxycodiene 3x.day switched they started making me itch and started these and it's takin three to get me moving 58 surgery's later 15yrs. Of restoration of my life now trying to just find a way to cope with pain then move forward and find joy again I need some suggestions I take flexural and that's it for pain but I'm finding it isn't lasting as far as it did? Any suggestions?
Hey how long where have you been, I haven't seen your posts for a bit, it's marjorie zych. The Dilaudid is in the morphine family, it is not Morphine but it is a dirivitive (spelling is awful sorry) of the Morphine family and is a little stronger than Percocets. One Dilaudid 2mg should equal two Percocets depending on your tolerance. Where I am Dilaudid is a little cheaper. I don't know if they will touch these meds but there is a program you can call the most they can say is no, may be worth a try-- here is the info o.k.: Partnership for Prescription Assistance 1-888-477-2669 www.PPARX.org. Like I said I don't know if they will do these drugs for you but you can try, it's a toll-free call, nothing to lose there. They have covered some pain meds before so good luck my friend. In case you don't have a phone to use the web site is there too. Hope you have some luck, those Gaps aka donut holes really stink when you need chronic meds of any kind. Good luck buddy hope this helps. marjorie zych
Thanks Marj. you have been a big help! I will try those Websites and phone numbers and see what I can get done! Thanks alot! You have been very helpful!
