I have constant pain from a stroke.I am at a level 10 on the pain scale if I am awake. I take 4 mg of Dilaudid every 4 hours and it doesn’t touch my pain. What else should I try?

As a person in level 10 pain myself, everyone reacts differently to meds. I was told l shouldn't be feeling pain with 6mg 3 x daily of Hydromorph Contin but l was, they changed the meds to oxy Contin and oxy condone for breakthrough. I have been painless since. Good luck
Hello there
First of all, may I ask you where the majority of pain is located. My suggestion would be to take the 8mg extended release dilauded. Then, You can try either percocet 10mg. Or, extra strength Vicodin for breakthrough pain every 6 hours. And, you might consider taking either Soma or Valium at bedtime. Take care and Blessings
