Ummm, these bumps may be mosquito bites, yet I am fearful about allergic reaction. I feel slightly idiotic asking this. Lyrica has worked for nerve pain, a bit. I may need higher doseage. What is normal dosage for Lyrica?
Can Lyrica cause hives or itching? Just started taking Lyrica 3 days ago?

I take lyrica and was told the highest dose allowed is 300 mg for night time and to start on day time at 150 mgs!
I've been taking Lyrica for about 3 months I noticed some bumps on my skin. They look and itch like mosquito bites is this a reaction 2 Lyrica
I believe the beginning dose of lyrica is 50mg 2X a day usually. But more importantly i just got this off the lyrica website:
Important Safety Information
LYRICA is not for everyone. LYRICA may cause serious, even life threatening, allergic reactions. Stop taking LYRICA and call your doctor right away if you have any signs of a serious allergic reaction. Some signs are swelling of your face, mouth, lips, gums, tongue, throat or neck or if you have any trouble breathing, or have a rash, hives or blisters.
So like you said, may be mosquito bites, but it also may be kind of a big deal. Talk to your doc asap
Dear Grey, thank you for your sagacious advice. I shall call doc on monday. i was scartching so much that I took Benadryl! Man, am I tired now!
Read that you have been depressed. I was as well. Stopped antidepressants and BAM, not depressed anymore... who knew? But I flushed my Oxycontin 9 months ago, I think withdrawal caused depression. Oxy may have been a depressant! What do you think?
Hmm, thats interesting. I stopped taking my antidepressants for about a month once and it didnt help me at all, it just made me feel worse. But yeah, oxy is a central nervous system depressant, and with chronic use of most CNS depressants people can develop depression. But theres also a chance that the pain people are put in without their oxy can also cause depression, so its kind of a personal thing i guess. Its different for everyone, but if getting off of it worked for you, more power power to ya!
grey_cypress, what is a "cns" depressant? is that short for central nervous system? You are quite wise about medications! Thank you for all your help.
sweetie
Ha, thank you! Yes CNS is just short for central nervous system.
Dear grey_cypress, my hives, or mosquito bites are better. I think I was panicking about allergic reaction. Nerve pain is better, yet I notice the pain gets worse when I am cooking dinner! About 6pm. Do ye think I may need another 50mgs around that time? I won't increase it w/o doc orders..just want your opinion. Thank you, sweetlemon
Glad to hear your hives (or whatever they were) are better! By making dinner do you mean the time of 6pm or the actual act of doing so? Cause obviously youd be on your feet and putting strain on your body while actually cooking, so that could be the problem right there. If you just mean 6 as in a time frame then id say the medication is wearing off, and a up in dosage would probably make sense. What are you currently taking? Cause as i said the normal starting dose is 50mg two times a day, if youre only on one dose a day then upping the dose might be soething you and your doc should consider.
Dear grey_cypress, I do not know if it is the time, or the action of being on my feet. I suspect the Lyrica has worn off by 6pm. I am active during the day, so it just seems to make sense that the med has worn off. How much Lyrica are you on, if you don't mind me asking?
sweetlemon
forgot to tell you Lyrica 50mgs twice a day.
thank you grey-cypress for your concern!
Actually im not on lyrica! Haha, i just know alot about it cause A) my grandmas on it and B) i was ALMOST put on it, but i got on gabapentin instead. As per the pain youre having... hmmm, yeah the only thing i could think of is that the meds are wearing off. Maybe you need to be bumped up to 50mg 3X a day?
sweetiemon. i take lyrica as well. 300mg three times daily. the only reaction ive had is dry elbows. and when i come off it, my elbows look better. also if you take it for a long time, say a year or year and a half, you will see how bad the with draws are. i have been on it for about 6 years. great med. though. but a big pisser coming off it.
I've been on Lyrica for about a year and for the passed 3-4 weeks I've been itching. I first thought it was lotion I was using, then I thought from the hot summer days and perspiring but now I'm itching so bad I've come to the conclusion it might be my Lyrica? I too am getting tiny little bumps and skin tags are driving me crazy!! So I didn't take my Lyrica last night just to see. But now I'm worried about the side effects of coming off the drug. Can anyone tell me what they are so I know what to expect? Ty
Hey grey, just wondering If you can get an allergic reaction from lyrica or any med for that matter, months after you have been on it, even though initially never had a reaction?
