With the 10mcg patch I was prescribed oxycodone 10mg IR. I was told the oxycodone is for breakthrough pain. Prior to these prescriptions I was on oxycodone 10mg IR. I was getting good relief using just the oxycodone but I usually had to take 2 pill at a time. When I took a bad fall or had increased pain I would run out early. I ran out early 3 times in a year. I have EDS and many spine problems. With this new combination of pain medication I’m not getting any pain relief.

You need to get off the buprenephrene completely. Buprenephrene works by flooding your pain receptors with this drug, which makes it impossible for you to receive any pain relief effect from the oxycodone, And Buprenephrene was designed to only provide only about half of the pain relief you were getting from the oxycodone alone. You need to get the buprenephrene out of your system first before you will get the pain-relieving effect of the oxycodone. It takes about 3 or 5 days to get the Buprenephrene out of your system. As Bevhaus said above. Buprenephrene is designed for helping a drug addict with their addiction when they are in treatment. It was not initially designed for pain relief like oxycodone is. Your doctor should not have prescribed buprenephrene to you for your pain relief in the first place.
I did some reading and buprenorphine in an antagonist and it overrides the oxycodone. Since I called the doctor 4 times and didn’t receive a response I canceled the rest of my appointments. I used the two week supply of oxycodone without the patch. When I saw my PCP on Monday and explained what happened she asked would I mind if she called him. I said that would be great. She never did reach him. I’ve had no pain medication for over a week. I’ve become extremely depressed, angry, and wanting to end it all. Those were the same symptoms listed in the book when a person has stopped opioids abruptly. I left my two sense in a message to my doctor. They both had to know what was going on. I’ve been on oxycodone for about 8 years. I’ve had about all I’m going to take. I just want to be done if this is what life will always be. I don’t have a clue what to do next. If I go to urgent care I’ll be labeled as a drug seeker.
I don’t want to reach out to mental health. I know from experience they can admit you to a psych unit against your will. All I ever wanted is my life back or at least something resembling a life. I know I have to think of something or I’ll become a statistic soon.
If anyone has any idea what I need to do next I will greatly appreciate you guidance.
Buprenephrene is used to treat addiction and dependence. It is not the same as oxycodone which is a strong narcotic used to treat pain.
