My blood sugars went up when I started taking Januvia. I stopped taking it and they are not going down, why would this happen?
Why would my blood sugar go up when taking Januvia and not come down after stopping it?

The answer to that is obvious. It didn't go up from the januvia. Are you following your diet, getting enough exercise, drinking lots of water? Do you have an infection? Has the dr put you on another medication for your diabetes?
My sugars were just fine before I started januvia. They never got up to 200 now Im having a hard time getting them down even to the 150's. No infections either.
I am having the exact same problem. Dr only added januvia to improve aic of 7.2. Readings were normally good. Now 1 week off januvia and horrible not sure met is working now. Wants me to try victoza which is the same class of drug. So very reluctant. Help!
I quit taking the januvia and its taken awhile but my A1c is starting to go down a little. I just take metformin and actos again they are working much better for me.
Thanks so much I stopped it a week ago but the metformin is not working as before I added the januvia. I was on januvia a month. I could tell it was making things worse quickly and stopped. I feel it has caused more harm. How long after you stopprd januvia did you see any improvement?
Actually I had to have my dosage higher of metformin after the januvia. Its been 3 months and its just starting to get better. Hopefully yours will go down soon. I drink only water and cheese helps my sugar go down if its high.
This is horrible... I wonder how common this is with using a new drug, this drug. Well, I appreciate you help and will hope for the best. Thanks for the cheese tip.
You're very welcome. I don't know how common it is that people have this reaction. I really hope not very often. Take care.
How long were you on Januvia if I may ask?
I am reading where there has occurred quit often for others as well.
Very concerning? Januvia definitely "changed" something... I am hoping I can "change" it back. Thanks
I took it for about 3 weeks. I also think it did something to mess up my system. But its now after 2 months starting to get better.
Thanks. I took it just shy of a month. 3 weeks off and finally reading are behaving as before. Also had to increase metformin. Hopefully I am back on track. Sure learned a good lesson about adding and changing meds from this. Good luck to you!
I am 57, I have been on Januvia for about 5 months and it is not helping at all. My sugar is typically 175 on this drug and I eat health and drink 64oz of water a day. I am going to ask my doctor for another solution.
I am taking januvia at night time and i starting noticing that my levels were higher in the mornings. I thought i was gling crazy so after reading your comments im going to stop taking it. It does do something to you i feel horrible.
