I want to ask if anyone has been taking Seroquel (Quetiapine) 100 mg for long term insomnia (like more than 2 years). How's the effect?
As I have surfed from the web that the sedative power to make you sleep will decrease over time.
Anyone takes Seroquel (Quetiapine) 100mg for insomnia for long term and how's the effect?

I suffer from bipolar disorder and also insomnia. I have been on seroquel for over 4 years and this atypical second genereation antipsychotic has done wonders for me, I am actually on 200mgs now, but have been on higher doses. The drug itself does not lose its effect, however like with any other medication one builds up tolerance to it, and therefore in some cases the dose must be adjusted.
Seroquel has been great for me, before I started taking it, I slept 2 to 3 hours. As I mentioned I was on a higher dose 800mgs, but then gradually lowered the dose to what I am taking now due to its effectiveness.
It does make you tired and sleepy the next day but that eventually will wear off, how long it will take, it is relative , bare in mind that not all organisms react in the same way to medications, we are all unique and it took me a couple of weeks, it may take more or less for you depending on the factor I mentioned before and how well your organism tolerates the drug.
Take care.
Thanks for your answer. My insomnia is due to anxiety and depression, like your case, before I took Seroquel, I slept less than 4 hours with sleeping pills. Now, my psy dr. offered me 100 mg and I slept much better these two weeks.
May I ask you do you nearly have good sleep once with the adjusted Seroquel medication?
Thanks for reading.
I mean do you have good sleep nearly every day once with the medication?
Yes, I sleep very well. Tahnk you.
Take care,
I have bipolar 1 disorder and use it for sleep and mood stabilizer. If I knew then what I knew now about seraquol I would have never started it
I’m not a dr this is only my personally experience. Terribly weight gain since starting it 60 lbs plus (I’ve always been thin). I had to always increase the dose (the dr did ) and trying to get off of it for good Is a total nightmare
If I could go back I’d try any drug but seraquol
Just my experience
